Exactly. They are brainwashed from such a young age, into thinking they are fighting for Allah/God. Yet the reality of the situation is that they have unwittingly been used to fight for U.S interests in countless situations. These Wahhabi/Salafi fighters are effective for many reasons, hence why the CIA, Saudi and Qatari intelligence continue to make use of them:

-They are willing to die, spontaneously for what they perceive as the greater good.
-They are cheap, dispensable and affordable fighters
-They have a huge amount of battle experience, from fighting Soviet and communist nations throughout history.

Hence why Al Qaeda and or similar groups, are always featuring in pretty much every intervention, fighting for US/Saudi interests worldwide, they are so deluded they literally, have no clue...

Margot, the Americans working for an American firm and living in the Middle East have the best of both worlds, since they have the extra comforts and income that the U.S. gives to those living outside the country. These people are living among forty thousand Americans, which constitutes a small city, and as they said they feel like a family, after all they are living within a larger more alien society.

Of course they feel more safe than in the U.S., since the laws in Saudi Arabia are much more strict, but by the same token, they're not forced to live under those strict laws within their own compound. Because of that, they are able to have the sense of freedom they would have in the U.S. and do not feel stifled. Also it's a better environment for their children since all the immoralities and indecencies on our TV and internet are not being imposed on them. As I said, they have the better of both worlds.

I'm sure within the compound they are also able to practice their religion freely. The question here is, are the servants who are at the mercy of their Saudi Arabian overlords, given the same rights? I think not, and this is the difference of living in a free society where everyone is given the same rights, and a society in which rights are given only to a select few lucky ones.

 

They aren't 40,000 in one place. Most of the compounds have a mixed community of Arabs, Europeans and Americans.

As for the base on Saudi soil, it's the one that outraged Osama Bin Laden, and the reason he attacked us on 911. It desecrated holy Islamic ground.

 

Oh that base has been gone.. Actually the SAG had asked them to leave in 1998.. They promised Fahd and Abdullah they would leave after Gulf war 1, but stayed 13 years.

 

That's even better, since they and their children have the added benefit of being with people of different cultures, while still enjoying the freedom and rights we have in America... but without the immorality of our TV and internet. Frankly I can't think of a better place for someone to raise their children than Dubai and for that very reason.

 

I knew there was some kind of American air force base in Saudi Arabia where Saudi pilots are being trained. This is what I came across: Eskan Village Air Base. Anyway if the the other bases stayed thirteen years, more than likely they were asked to stay. Don't believe everything you hear and read ...especially in that part of the world.
