Campaign finance is stealing your right to speak and participate in the political process. It applies more to you than to politicians, corps, unions, and pacs. It doesnt really limit politicians, pacs, and the rest, as we have just seen in this election. It does limit you, the individual. The Patriot Act section 215 is a gag order that prohibits a person served a search warrant from disclosing anything that took place. There is little difference between that infringement on free speech and campaign finance reform infringement on free speech.
good afternoon secessionists! Are you people any closer to putting your money where your mouth is? LOL
If the DEA willing fully ignores the will of the people here in Washington State, I will support Succession from the US as well.
Oh and by the way, states DO NOT have any right unilaterally seceed from the union. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_v._White
Look up the case then. Its right there. No state may decide to leave the union. Once you are a state you cannot leave.
Liberals, is there any reason you would support secession? For example, if romney won and tried to take away abortion, would you support your state seceding?
These arguements that states dont have any right to secede and therefore cannot secede is assinine. When you get right down to it, the govt rules because of the consent or subjugation of the people. When the people decide they no longer consent and withdraw, they are rejecting the govt and the legal structure. At that point, what the US law says doesnt mean a dam* thing, one party has rejected it (you know, they have Seceded from the system). You then have a choice, you either let them go or you try to subjugate them through economic and/or military warfare. But you go ahead and stand at the border and read some US law books to whoever will listen.
Wiki is an indispensable resource for information, and the fact that most of the right on this board shuns it is a comment on how uninformed, and ignorant they prefer to be.
Well article four give congress the right to modify states so the Union and states are not indestructible. Secession is not unconstitutional but it may be deemed illegal. Germany was split and reformed, other countries break up all the time. It is crazy to believe that it can not happen.
Wait we have the constitutional right to overthrow the government. By arms if necessary. So if we can constitutionally overthrow the government then we can leave the union. The right to bear arms was put there for a reason and that is why the liberals want to take it away.
To defend this nation from enemies, both foriegn and DOMESTIC............ When the DEA is showing up to impose Federal will, on a law that was put into place by a popular vote, its pretty obvious who our domestic enemy is! The balls these people must have is amazing to me!
Are you that stupid? If a state seceded, who gives a dam* what the scotus says. Get a dictionary and look up "secede". I've never been to New Jersey, but I'm begining to see why its so Fu**ed up and why so many were too stupid to leave before the storm.
I have searched the US constitution, and I see no such prohibition. Can you please point me to the relevant passage?
They've been willing to pay for it in the past, in terms of losing nearly a million lives, which was 2% of the population. Today that is the equivalent of 7 million people. And Americans have shown time and again they're willing to pay blood and treasure for worthless causes like assisting the NVA due to some erroneous theory about communist infiltration of Asia. It's not a foreign war, it's a civil war. Texas has been a part of the US for over a century. You underestimate the power of nationalism. Countries, such as China and Russia, have showed that they are (*)(*)(*)(*) well willing to go to war over something they lost 2 centuries ago. Russia warred over Abkhazia and South Ossetia and the Chinese are just waiting for the Fifth Fleet to get out of the Taiwan Strait. And you think that the US and its people would give up Texas without a fight? Psh. You really don't know that much about history huh? You think that this is a bad moment in American history? There has been worse, much worse. And your paranoia doesn't make things fact. The political process will remain the same as it has been barring a major catastrophe that will be the focusing point for centralization of power. We haven't had a good tyrant since Jackson or Washington. And you blame everything on the liberals. Liberals this, liberals that. This is a new age of party polarization on both sides, but it's always the fault of the liberals. I suggest watching the documentary "Patriocracy." It lays the blame of modern party polarization as something as decades in the making.
