Another scam that the US gov't will be unable to bring itself to combat. Why have a massive, fat federal gov't at all? Well, besides to tax and regulate American citizens.

If you build the progressive welfare state, they will come.

    Progressives' "solution"? Open the borders.

Birthright citizenship should've been jettisoned ages ago.

Why the hell is anybody surprised by this? People immigrate here for a reason, the bennies. My wife is involved in the Russian community here in the Seattle area, the scams will amaze you. I know a family of 4 that drag down almost $6000 a month, half in government benefits in one form or another. The man of the house works nights, under the table for the most part. I know another individual who had an anchor baby, it wasn't about love or anything like that. It was about getting knocked up and getting all the benefits. She has never informed the father to my knowledge, she may not even know who the father is.

My wife is Belorussian, she worked as a travel agent (?) at the Soviet consulate here in Seattle. In 1992 due to some fluke in the chaos of the dissolution of the USSR she was essentially abandoned along with her daughter. She simply didn't get a paycheck one week. She was given a choice on whether to stay he or go home, she chose to stay. She went to school while working as a maid a Howard Johnsons, she stayed with the tourism industry to this day. During those early times she got welfare and medical and was considered a refugee but she never got the benefits she sees other people getting today, she is quite frankly astonished by it. She became a citizen in 1996, we met in 1998 and married in 2006 in her home town of Gomel Belarus, we raised both our daughters together and while we did at times have benefits we have always paid back into the system, I've never drawn an unemployment check in my life, I've had to fall back on the system a couple of times but only for the sake of my daughter. Only if I had to.

Something needs to change, there is far too much abuse in the system. I have nothing against ensuring the future and health of children but irresponsible adults and abuse is another thing all together.

Same story with the UK and France. The West is committing suicide.

These stories are always so amazing. Amazingly stupid.

$6000/month? I know disabled people in Washington on "bennies" (basically food stamps and a few dollars towards their medicare), and if when their Social security went up $30 from $920 to $950, her $160/mo in food stamps went DOWN $30. $950/month is TOO MUCH INCOME to qualify for anything else. They could get section 8 housing help, but they failed to win the lottery that would then get them on the 5 year waiting list, so they have to wait THREE MORE YEARS, to get a chance on getting on the FIVE YEAR WAITING LIST again!

And if a woman has a child, they INSIST on paternity tests and identification of the father, who they they hunt down to take back whatever the mother got and make him pay child support.

And if you "know" of all these ripoffs going on, don't you have a phone? Why aren't you dropping a dime reporting on these cheaters?

As someone already mentioned, the issue here, and with illegal immigration from south of the border, should be addressed by changing birthright citizenship laws to only affect children whose parents are living here as legal citizens.

Birthright citizenship in todays world is being abused because it's outdated and has loop holes in it.

In any case...better to have chinese immigrants than anything else. Atleast they value education and a higher standard of living. (not to mention they don't commit any crimes or form street gangs)

I would absolutely prefer Asians over Hispanics. If there really can't be a country for white people (even though every other race has a homeland), I'd rather share it with other functional groups.

The idiots in California just voted to raise their taxes in a State that already had some of the highest rates in the nation. I guess they wanted to make sure these "newborns" have plenty of welfare! :disbelief:

Taking one example and then generalizing it does not show how much abuse there is.

There is abuse, but how much is hard to tell. I have dealing with Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Taiwanese, and Korean immigrants, and most of them are hard working. Some have to go on welfare becuase their spouse left them and they left everything, including the paychecks, to that spoouse. Some are forced into welfare because the USC spouse does not want to file for the I485. And then we have the sex trade where 50000 women, last time I checked, were lied to when they were first offered a job in the US, usually being a maid or a babysitter, but insteat, they are forced into the sex business. You simply cannot blame all abuse on US citizens.

Same here. I've had nothing but good experiences with Asians, save for one guy who was simply a doosh.

There's a little comfort in the claim that Asians are the fastest growing minority group. Still though, I no more support them becoming citizens via 'anchor baby' method, than any other group.

    Fiddlerdave.

No they DO NOT. From what I heard with my own ears FROM the individual sitting across the table from me she STOOD IN FRONT OF A JUDGE AND SAID SHE DID NOT KNOW WHO THE FATHER WAS.

This came about due to immigration issues and she wanted to stay so she was apparently advised to get knocked up, and get the bennies.

As for that family I know that both the wife and daughter are on SSI and get food assistance. They get substantial amounts of money from the state, the exact amount I have no idea.

Why don't I pick up the phone? The only way it will ever change is if it falls apart, why stop the process when it works to your ends? The fraud and abuse will kill the whole system eventually, or a least I am hoping it will change it. I know of people who have reported it and it goes nowhere anyway.

Don't care where they're from. Russia, China, mexico, Jordan, etc. They have no respect. But nothing will change. Our government is the biggest conglomeration of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) this side of the planet.

That's the story that the ambulance chasing immigration lawyer tells them to say.

The truth is that most of them know what they are coming here for.

But even if they were lied to in a few cases that does not entitle them to a free ride at US taxpayer expense.

Send them back to their home country and let the locals deal with it.

    Don,

Unlike some of the Republican posters on this forum most of us are busy. Do you know where Chino Hills is? It's a pretty upscale neighborhood. If a Chinese woman has the money to fly over and put her feet up for a few months there at the cost of thousands of dollars it means they are not poor. I would much rather have the scion of a wealthy Chinese industrialist have US citizenship than most of the trailer trash that posts on this forum. In other words the federal government has better things to do than adjust its policies to satisfy your xenophobic delusions.

Bruce Lee was born in the US and was taken back to Hong Kong at the age of three months. I'm glad he was American vs French or British. He certainly contributed a lot more to American culture and the American economy than people like you ever could.

I like how all you read is Chinese and US citizenship and go crazy. These are exactly the type of families we need to be giving US citizenship to. It makes a lot more sense than the money we waste on basket case states like Mississippi and Alabama.

Poor Mexican women work the anchor baby scam too.

They sneak across the border in the 11th hour and have their baby and then stay or not as they please.

But they make sure to pick up the welfare check in the little one's name every month.

However I don't think we should deny poor Mexicans while at the same time accommodating rich Chinese.

Close the anchor baby loophole for everyone because it is simply wrong.

And BTW: Don't flatter yourself that white conservatives hate the Chinese just because they are not white.

The Chinese have had it pretty good in this country for over 150 years so save the phony racism tears for gullible libs who don't know any better.

    I just did.

There is no reason to ignore the dishonest Chinese women coming here to have their anchor babies just because they are rich.

End the anchor baby scam for everyone.

You just gave the reason to ignore it. I prefer a handful of wealthy Chinese children vs the tens of millions of ignorant broke trailer trash sponging off of welfare. Bruce Lee's mother had him in California and then jetted off to HK three months later. Worked out pretty well for our economy.

I'd vote for a Constitutional amendment to to add more requirements to have birthright citizenship.

But even currently, its not the gravy train that the Right says it is.

California almost belongs to China. Why shouldn't they bring people to California?
