This is of course ridiculous and a great injustice. Shame on Egypt. But even developed secular nations often have plenty of crazy laws against blasphemy, hate speech, hurt feelings, obscene material and so on. Even my own country has some, I have to admit. Freeze peach is under assault almost everywhere, and it is poor individuals like this man who pay the price.

On a lighter note, internet makes most such laws largely irrelevant in bigger picture.

Is there a law against such an act in Egypt?
There are various laws in other countries where you cannot say certain things as it may incite a riot etc, so there are some exceptions to free speech.

Challenging the law is good; one man will accomplish nothing - more is needed. Ultimately, I don't think there will be a change.

Yes we can see how pious they are and how inciting violence is "considered a serious crime" all over.
In Egypt, in Yeman, in Bahrain, in Algir, in Tunisia, in Syria, in Iraq, ...

Have you ever had any experience in any Muslim country?

I am tall and was smoking a Cuban cigar at a birthday party when a dear friend began to tease me about being mistaken for a man.

Muslims jumped in and scolded him.. I had to explain that it was in jest/friendship and no harm was done.

False witness and teasing are not widely accepted.. nor are bad manners.

Yes you do actually because none of the links you posted demonstrate in any way that you can be arrested in Lebanon for insulting Christianity, and your assertion that Christianity is not insulted in Lebanon is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing laughable.

So you're saying I can walk down a street in Saudi Arabia openly displaying a cross and I won't be accosted by bystanders and/or arrested by the authorities? You
    lying liar from liartown.

On the contrary, my links prove that percieved insults/attacks on Christianity is taken seriously no matter the culprit; the man who closed his shop down (if you read the link) was a Muslim for example. Another example is of Hezbollah's media arm, Al-Manar, pulling a program about Jesus after Christian objection to the series during Ramadan.

What's laughable is some random hate-filled American kid thinking he knows more about the state of affairs in Lebanon than I do.
