Don't have my 06 anymore:) and a 5.56 is a little weak for my applications as I don't do pelts. Sorry a 5.56 assault rifle is too weak for my application.

Nice...I hadn't thought of the possibility of knocking a perp down as a strategy to get around body armor. So a so-called 'assault' rifle as defense might not pack enough of a punch?

Another tired argument from the Right trying to paint the picture of people not knowing their guns/ammo means they shouldn't discuss gun control.

The answer is the Modified AR shoots feathers and pixie dust. But sadly, it's still killing people. So stop avoiding reality and use your brain kiddo :)

I am not going to chance it. I don't care as much about killing power as I do stopping power.

There are one cases where I can see the need for high capacity detachable magazines though. Riots and my family is in danger.

A knife kills more people in a year than a sporting rifle.

Cars kill more people every year than all forms of homocide combined.

If I wanted to kill someone, I'd use a car, then it is legal. Hell, with good insurance and employer short term disability, you get paid for it.

He's got a hell of a lot better point than you do. FFS you should at least have an idea of what you are talking about. End of the day banning 'modified assault rifles' will do nothing to stop mass shootings. We need to look at real solutions, not feel good '(*)(*)(*)(*) you gun owner' laws. Of course that's only if you actually want to try to prevent mass shootings, and not just ban some weapons because you don't like them and/or the people who own them.

Seriously I'm a computer programmer with a Bachelors in Computer Science and a former infantryman/veteran of the Iraq war. I own an AK-47 and will soon purchase an AR-15. I am not a threat to you, nor are my 'modified assault rifle' owning friends who run the gamut from business owners to teachers. Punishing us does nothing other than (*)(*)(*)(*) us off at you. None of us are going on a killing spree any time soon. Know why? Simple, we're not nuts. Seriously if guns were the problem, many, many more gun owners would just start randomly shooting people, but they don't. Clearly the problem lies somewhere else. If you actually give a (*)(*)(*)(*), you'll start looking there. I'd start with mental health, though apparently we're being told not to by the media. It seems like every other day I'm hearing/reading something about how we shouldn't blame autism for this. Way to keep the status quo when it comes to gun crimes; blame the weapon not the human.

    What is a modified AR?

Oh, you don't know what you are a talking about do you?

You are not an authority on the subject, do not act like one.

Well as the father of an autistic son I can tell you the Autism IS a big contributing factor in violent behavior. I have seen times when I was called to pick my son up after hours of behavior that would be considered violent. I guarantee that if it was the case here it was a factor that he possibly could not control.
