America got nothing out of Guantanamo except a reputation for breaching the Geneva convention

I don't think torture has much of a point.

That being said, I do support making the death penalty a lot cheaper.

If lethal injection is "cruel and unusual", then a bullet to the head should suffice.

Not really - trouble with a bullet to the head is that some survive - well, sort of, if you call a drooling incontinent being a "survivor"

I absolutely do.... but not for cops or prison guards.

    Rapists, pedos, mass murderers, etc....

If their victims want to swing by the prison after, say, a long day at work and torture the bastard they should be at liberty to do so.

Even worse - if chopping off a hand does not deter people from thieving - how would torture (which you have consistently failed to define) deter someone from murder - and again you have seemingly failed to answer my questions about whether you would consider someone who is drunk and kills four people with a gun worse than someone who is drunks and kills four people with a car

well chopping peoples hands off for theft does deter a LOTTTTT of theft. thats a fact....doesnt mean i would agree with it though

and i would consider the gun worse... since its easy to accidentally swerve on the road. idc really. both are evil as (*)(*)(*)(*) and should get serious punishments

Source? I am betting you have no statistics to back your contention

Now - why is being drunk in charge of a car not deserving of torture while being drunk in charge of a gun is

    here

    http://www.nationmaster.com/country/sa-saudi-arabia/cri-crime

    http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_car_the-crime-car-thefts

18,700 car thefts out of 28 million in saudi arabia (0.00066) with a US theft rate that would be 112,000 thefts

USA almost 1,250,000 out of 310,000,000 (0.004) with a saudi arabia theft rate, it would be 204,600 thefts

Now - why is being drunk in charge of a car not deserving of torture while being drunk in charge of a gun is

re-read my post.... your reading my posts for what you want to hear, not what im actually saying

Now - since women in Saudi do not drive - what is the ownership rates of cars in the two countries? (Lols -seems not even the Saudi's know how many cars there really are)
    http://www.kau.edu.sa/Files/320/Researches/52561_22867.pdf

Now - how often do the Saudi's actually enact amputation?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_system_of_Saudi_Arabia

Nationmaster itself admits it is virtually impossible to compare countries rates of crime because of the differing legal system

But it does not matter because you STILL have not proven that amputation of a hand is a deterrent - in fact all you have proven is that car theft still occurs despite Hadud

And If you feel I have misunderstood you - then please explain again what you mean by "torture" and how you would apply it to the car mass murderer and the gun mass murderer

No, we're talking about the inalienable Rights of ALL Person and US Constitution with it's absolute prohibition against any cruel and unusual punishment.

It always amazes me that there are so many that oppose the US Constitution. I wonder how many of those that support torture in this thread also support the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in other threads? Strange how so many are hypocrites when they cite the 2nd Amendment and then ignore the 8th Amendment. I found the same hypocracy when there were those that supported the torture and denial of due process of the law related to suspected terrorists.

If there was no other reason then the simple fact that the US Constitution prohibits torture should be enough for Americans to oppose torture. Americans don't even have to be smart enough to understand why the 8th Amendment exists to be supportive of it and to oppose torture.
