Yeah, the cons have literally thrown the Sandy hurricane victims out in the cold. Yesterday Boehner rejected a bill for aid relief 66 days after the victims lost everything. Republican N.J. governor Christie and the con reps of N.Y., Connecticut, and N.J. were outraged at their own party. But they shouldn't be surprised, the GOP is all about making the American people suffer. They've been trying to throw the elderly, the poor and the sick out in the street for the last thirty years. Amazing how different cons feel when they're getting the shaft themselves.

With all these cold heartless actions being exposed to the whole county, it's really going to be interesting to see how the GOP tries to keep from losing control of the House of Representatives in 2014.

It took Peter King of NY threatening to oppose Boehner's re-election to Speaker to get him to change it.

"Fend for yourself" works great in theory...and as rhetoric for rightwing bloggers....but political reality, even among Republicans, shows that it doesn't work as public policy.

I wonder what was attached to this bill as "riders", money for research into methane emissions from cows? Remember that?

We still don't know the whole story but we all know. I say help the victims of the storm, but why does someone in congress or where ever have to attach all kinds of crap to the bill?

I think this is what is happening.

I love PORK, it's the other white meat. The truth is PORK is good for us! I root my representatives on to bring us lots of PORK to our district, PORK ends up BUILDING SOMETHING... even if it is truly wasteful, many times people GET JOBS and GET PAID because of PORK... I'd much rather some rich asssshole be taxed and have his money REDISTRIBUTED to my district tocreate economic activity, no matter how wasteful, rather than have said asssshole, keep it and invest in a hedge fund or buy a 5th house.

The reps i heard opposed the bill on those grounds. I think it is unfair & slanderous to demonize them for wanting fiscal responsibility, when the other reps are trying to plunder the treasury & hide it behind 'aid'. But this is the propaganda ploy of the big spending left. They do not want to debate each expenditure on it's own merit, but sneak them in with other valid projects. Then if someone calls them on their deceptive tactics, they cry, 'Heartless!' & attack the opposition.

Welcome to the new american propaganda machine, now running full bore, distorting & deceiving the public whenever they can.

They need to take all of the pork out first. Remember, Obama says he is against earmarks and pork. Beside, he is not supposed to have pork.

Morning Bell: Uproar Over Bloated Sandy Aid Package:

Leaders from New Jersey and New York blew up yesterday after House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) postponed a vote on an aid package related to Hurricane Sandy. But the bill is so loaded with pork projects that these officials should consider directing their anger at the Obama Administration, which is hijacking the aid meant for their constituents.

Not wanting pork sent to your district makes you a moron against your own self interests.

Every time the cons expose their heartless stupidity, they come up with a left wing conspiracy. Like pork that no one knows about. Pretty flaky, doubling down on a stupid move. Even republicans have said there is NO PORK in the bill. The cons are self immolating on their ridiculous "principles".

You should be furious at the congressmen and women that used this bill and the tragic event as an opportunity to slip in their goodies. THAT was cold and heartless.

That didn't happen, the bill was never brought to the floor, so there were no earmarks attached. Try again.

As someone else here mentioned--no one other than other congressmen know what riders were attached to the bill, or to how many special interest lobbyists they would have to blow in order to pass such a bill. Its amazing to get the warped liberal take on our elderly, our poor and sick as to believing the GOP threw them out in the street, when in reality its been the big liberal government entiltlement programs that have kept those aforementioned people mired in a miserable and debilitating cradle to grave lifestyle for decades upon decades. But hey libhangover, whatever asinine story you can come up with will surely amuse your lib followers, I'm sure.

From what I heard, the reason they didn't vote on that aid bill is that it was loaded with pork with other things having nothing to do with aid for Sandy victims.

This is a big problem in this country and why we are so far in debt. Congress can write up a bill for a good cause, and then others stick several other bills with it that wouldn't have a chance of passing on there own, but they get through because they stuck it with another bill that needs passing. This isn't right. We need the rules changed so that there is only one bill at a time to vote on. Let that bill pass or fail on it's own merits. After these clowns tack on these other bills and Congress balks at passing it, they come back and say you guys just don't care. It's a freaking game they play with the American people and we fall for it. It's costing this country billions. One bill, one article on it. That's the way it should be.

Why does New york need an aid package when they are among the richest states? I thought the democrats hate the rich.

If it is worth funding, it worth having a bill of it's own so it can be voted on by it's own merits.

    The solution is easy.

Take the Seante bill, throw it in the old word processor and edit out all the pork. Introduce it as a bill in the House and have a Senate Republican introduce the identical verbiage in the Senate.

Bring the Reid pork bill to a vote and defeat it. Its from the 112th Congress so it dies.

But the worthwhile part is now in the two companion GOP bills. Bring the new GOP (pork-free) House bill to a vote and pass it. Now you force Dirty Harry to publicly defend pork.

Stop playing defense. Go on the attack, Boehner!

But that might reduce 50 Billion dollars, and the Pig will not be fed.

We have to have a well fed Pig don't we? Like the bloated Military Pig. And the bloated Discretionary Pig. And the Congressional Salary Pig. And the Welfare Pig. The Health Care Pig, and the Medical Pharmacy Pig.

We are just a Pig Nation. And Pigs are never satisified.

"We have to have a well fed Pig don't we?"

Oh, YES, 24 more hours really makes a difference doesn't it??? And when are people going to start taking on the responciblity for themselves instead of sticking out their hand after every little shake? We will be broke when something big comes along.

Funny, they were working on, as it turns out, a stop gap measure to keep from going over the fabled Physical Cliff and would take this issue 24 hours later. After 66 days, 1 more wouldn't matter.

Everybody but you knows about the pork. And the money already authorised for the victims of Sandy hasnt yet even been distributed. Stupidity is whining about the immediate need for more money when they havent yet utilized the money they already have.
