I know if I lived in a country where the government feared it's citizens so much it had to disarm them I would be afraid. But then judging from those childish riots in London a year or so ago perhaps the UK government was right in disaming the average folks. Becasue you can own guns in the UK , however only the very rich and wealthy can afford them, other than criminals of course.
So according to your logic, we are only entitled to have things that were invented when the Constitution was written. So where does that leave us with regards to birth control, abortions, other types of medicine, transportation, etc? The possibilities are endless.

Well..those unreasonable people have always existed in human society even before guns were invented. Today guns are ubiquitous in human society and the premise that we can get rid of them is foolish. Any sane person knows that criminals, murderers, rapists etc. will always be able to obtain a gun. The point of any gun-ban legislation is to disarm the REASONABLE people. I completely agree with your post, it makes me think that if they ever try and take the guns they will not be able to with the military, too many ordinary Americans. They could only take our guns with a foreign Army, which with all the illegal aliens, once made legal, with extremely high unemployment they will join the military in record numbers, than once the military is a majority Mexican, they could use the military against the civilians.
Dont put too much faith in the military. Soldiers are trained to follow orders. Particularly generals who got where they are by making the boss happy.

Firstly we were never 'disarmed' because we never had a culture of mass gun ownership in the first place, nor did we consider guns to be a necessary means of self-defense, because we don't live in a perpetual state of abject terror like paranoid Americans do.
