I got rid of my television over two years ago now, too much freakish garbage, reality shows, and so called 'soaps' that used to have humour in them, and suddenly, instead of the banter and humour, the stories became about total dysfuntionality. I know that our Americans friends cannot get their head around the legal obligation on us to buy a licence, to own a television.

Indeed. Even if your television has not been turned on for ten years, and even if you now use it as a table, it makes no odds. Either you pay this Gov tax (which is what it is), or you can be fined up to £2k. I do not know how much it is, but it is over £140 a year, I think. It doesn't matter if you never watch the BBC AT ALL, indeed, even if you made it impossible to tune in to the BBC, you must STILL pay this tax. They will know when you buy a TV. And they have vans that pic up signals. They hound people at the door. That is what it comes down to.

You cannot choose and there is no opt out. Now. The principle was good. An advertising free media is often a more accurate and more quality media, for obvious reasons. It can produce more quality documentaries and news programme's, that are a bit more intelligent, than the garbage you may get on commercial tv. High standards of journalism are asked for, and the organisation in theory, is transparent, accountable, and an outlet of truth and education. And, to be fair, it has achieved some of these things, down the decades. It has produced some World class documentaries, no doubt.

But. Despite the usual whine from Zionists, the reality of the matter is that our BBC has been culpable of spewing Zionist BS to people, they have demonstrated an increasing level of biased reporting, and when, for the first time in their history, they refused to run that appeal (remember, the Tony Benn footage), that was when I knew..they are on their side.

Any last crumbs of respect have been lost, since it is clear that not only have the BBC been pandering to Zionist lies, but they have been a haven for paedophiles and sex cases, like Jimmy Saville, once probably one of their jewels in their crown, and a man that Alan Yentob and all that crowd (who have been there forever), must surely have known about. On that basis, and unti normal service is resumed, I suggest British people refuse to pay their licence.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has been accused by a researcher on Press TV’s political program ‘the Monarchy’ for its uneven stance of supporting the Israeli regime.

In the interview, researcher for the Islamic Human Rights Commission in London, Reza Kazim slammed the BBC for its ongoing biased approach on not giving any news coverage of Palestinian prisoners.

“The BBC fundamentally is biased against the Palestinians. You can even see that and we’ve had a situation where a Palestinian hunger striker in Israeli jails has been kidnapped by the Israelis and he’s been on a hunger strike for over 160 days, has lost half of his body weight, has not been given any coverage by the BBC”, Kazim said.

The researcher’s comments counter the BBC’s constant coverage of former soldier Gilad Shalit of the oppressive Zionist troops, who was captured by Palestinian fighters on 25 June 2006.

Kazim then referred to a dog that was given coverage by the corporation and had its picture put on the BBC website after it lost half of its body weight, whereas the Palestinian “a human being” who has been on an intense hunger strike has been suffering for a long time in an Israeli prison and has not been given any coverage “whatsoever” by the BBC.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission researcher also claims that the British corporation isn’t allowing the public to know what politically goes on as well as it providing misleading content.

The appear to be several errors of fact in the OP. You can own as many TV's as you like, so long as you never watch or record broadcasts with them.
They have vans which can detect a TV that is on and receiving a broadcast, but not if it's not on. Also, you CAN opt out with a simple declaration.

Watching live TV on a computer needs a licence too!

I was finally going to agree with you on something, after all the BBC is a liberal piece of spins and twists, but then you went back on to your Zionist/Jew rants. The last forum I was on, was knocked off the internet because of rants like yours, and hasn't been able to get on since. We kept telling the moderators that it had become a hate forum...but to no avail. So why don't you just cut it out Jack. If it closes down, then what have you gained? :frustrated:

Kind of yes BBC is changed, is not valued for money at all, swinging to right, cheap propaganda, more in favour of capitalism, rapes, paedophilia, celebrities. I would give good credit to BBC4 and Radio BBC4. Not much to choose BBC it is better than ITV or channel 5.

Try telling that to them if they knock at your door and you do not have their 'licence'...

Why don't YOU stop trying to tell ME what I CHOOSE to comment on.

Shall I write that for you in a huge font, so that you understand?

Anyway, despite the melodrama and low tactics of those that want to undermine the message, I shall, as a British citizen, will go on giving my views on the British Broadcasting Company.

Don't think for a second such tricks and methods work with me. They do not.

My defining moment re the BBC..

But that is precisely what I mean.

Look, I have obviously seen those programme's, I have seen Benders and Corrie, I know what they are about, but the latter is a case in point.

If you watched carefully, it was mainly a parody, total humour, you had people like Mavis, and Jack Duckworth and Vera.

All good stuff, harmless. What happens? In one street, the change it into murder, rape, promiscuity, and filth. Eastenders in 25mins of hate and dysfunctionality, people yelling at each other. Some people do take on that, if watching it is like a window to what they think is real and acceptable.

The BBC is swinging to the RIGHT? In what way? have they started telling people they want lower taxes or something?

Her point is that you yourself often make excellent posts but then undermine your own message when you veer off onto the Jews. And she's correct.

Heck, I almost never turn on the TV anymore either, but mostly because almost everything here is slanted so far to the left it isn't funny. The entertainment shows and the like are mostly garbage. And what little isn't garbage - just feels like I've seen a million times before. If it gets any worse, the WWE will be considered high-end entertainment! And I really wanted to hear more about your views on this subject until you started beating that dead horse again.

Its true Jack...the Zionist hatred stuff gets in the way. This isn't the appropriate thread (your own thread lol)

But I am also fed up with the reality, low brow crap. I especially hate the exploitive stuff---networks nurturing ratings by showcasing people who obviously have huge mental issues. I hate having to pay for cable and not finding anything decent to watch with all the useless channels I pay for.

SW, please do not try to educate me to her 'point', I am well aware of every single method that is used, to stifle any and every mention of Israel, anywhere, and that includes her hysterical choice of words. I gave my defining moment, re the BBC. I am British. What do you want me to do, pretend it is not my freaking defining moment, just to please her or you, seriously, the way people try to literally harass others on here, for expressing THEIR views, is shocking.

And it just ruins threads. If you disagree with a point of content, say what it is. Or something.

    Just anything except me, FFS.

Obviously NOT for me, so please do not try to make up my mind as well as drone on about what people should THINK my own efing defining moment, and thoughts on the BBC should be.

Bloody obsessed by the person, not the message, that is the problem on this forum.

Jack, the thing is: Do we REALLY need to wade through the same stuff you've posted a million times before in order to get to the gems?

I'm not saying you can't believe what you do, but by God does it distract from the point you're trying to make, and an excellent one at that.

The issue isn't about stifling your beliefs but rather posting in a way that doesn't defeat your purpose. How are you gonna persuade others when your constant off-topic remarks draw attention away from the main point?

So! - I mean, so. Perhaps YOU can explain what was meant by the BBC veering right? Because that other guy seems to have wandered off.

I'm die hard opposed to any tax payer money going to any broadcasting institution. It's impossible to be unbiased and to having righties pay a TV station that is very lefty is just wrong, and so is the reverse. It's horrible, that in sweden our media is incredibly biased, so much that we jokingly call it DDR media even though its much truth to it. I don't want my money going to work against my intrests.

    I had sky TV.
One day, I timed the adverts in an episode of star trek. 20 minutes out of the hour so that went.
No way was I going to pay to watch adverts.
I didn't really watch much TV after that so I sold the thing and stood to a portable DVD player.
No more TV licence but loads of letters from the Nazi licencing people and a couple of visits to remind me to buy a licence.
A short burst of old Germanic inspired Anglo Saxon gets rid of them but not until they tell you you're a liar and really have a TV.
    Bunch of gits, they are.
Cheek bastards even came to the window for a sneaky look.

You needn't try telling them that, or anything else, if they come round your house, other than (*)(*)(*)(*) OFF !!!!

    Simple as that.

Same thing for bailiffs who want to come in and start taking your (*)(*)(*)(*).

Now as we all know, I don't own a TV (wink wink)

So there's this guy I know let's say. And he's not paid TV license in years. He paid it the first year in the country thinking he had to, but then realized it was all bull(*)(*)(*)(*).

This is actually a private corporation, called "TV licensing" and they claim to have statutory powers far beyond any powers they actually have.. They work by just telling everyone they have to pay up, and then relying on the 95% of those who do pay up thinking they have to..

Kind of like the phone company puts phoney charges on like everybody's phone bill, but then only like half of them actually check their bill so they refund those half, but the idea was to collect on those who weren't paying attention.

    Same thing here.

The ONLY thing that can cause a fine is if you're stupid and admit who you are and that you have a TV... The radar gun they drive away with is not admissible evidence for court.. If you open your door and they are there and ID themselves as such and hear "Constipation Street" or "Rear Enders" or whatever other (*)(*)(*)(*) is on in the background, tell them it's your parrot. If they try to come in, tell them to (*)(*)(*)(*) off, and send them packing.. The ONLY thing you can't do is tell them your name and that you have a TV... Simply say nothing other than (*)(*)(*)(*) off and go on not paying any TV license the rest of your life.

Collecting money by force (or threat of force) to pay for a TV network is just a deplorable thing to do.

Why can't they just fund it with commercial breaks like every other station do?

Or, use the subscription service model like HBO or Showtime, those who pay for a subscription can watch and those who don't cannot and the signal is scrambled.

BBC for this reason are supposed to be non-commercial.

But one time, on the news, they had a guest on with the anchors for like ten minutes. He was a spokesman from a wireless company going on about the "news" that they were the first and only wireless company to offer 4g service in Britain... And then went on talking about price plans and that.. Basically it was a commercial presentation. Since then I am even more cemented in the idea that their private corporation "TV Licencing" corporation aren't due any cash from me.

BTW, if it goes to court, most people would just pay the fine, but if it got that far, you could still weasle out.... English law prevents this, but it's old and archaic and you need to know what to look for.

If anyone calls at your door or telephones you or anything and they say they are from "TV licensing" talking about your "account" or money due or anything, simply tell them, sorry I don't do business with any such company. I've never received any goods or services from any such company and I've never solicited for any goods or services from any such company. Good day.

Nah - that'll be terrible , I detest commercial breaks . Have you noticed the ear blasting sound volume increases during commercials . IMO - BBC produce unndoubtedly the world's best programs esp. its documentaries - well worth the licence fee.

    for example see FOUR

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour

my problem is I cant find enough time to watch as many as I'd like to . She who must be obeyed controls the remote button -= Peace ..

btw - after many years dutifully paying the required fees , I've now at last become a recipient of a Free Licence. Hooray !
