I think that the government should tax water at one cent per gallon, and tax the internet with a search engine tax of at least a penny per search.

I think the government should stop taxing Americans, and start taxing imports to fund its operations!

Funny thing about water, its monetization tends to lead to revolution really quickly.

Or are you not aware of the attempts by major corporations to own the water supplies?

But we don't have a spending problem... So why do they need more to spend?

Then comes the weird part, half the people would be exempt, and some searches would be exempt and some would be more. And suddenly thought control isn't that weird, just make the non-politically correct search cost more. That got really rightwing in a hurry though it didn't start out there. PRetty simple really, you show much cost cuts then you can talk about tax raises, first cut all the foreign aid to israel and take down a dozen foreign bases, then you can worry about money.

Government is a good thing. As opposed to rule of the gun. Weaklings can pull triggers and control the world with weapons - and law, religion, media, drugs, etc.
The form and structure should account for size and scope.

Elders and thugs in towns with Mayors, would be cool with me.
If a thug gets out of line, an Elder can take him out.
And If a Mayor takes out an Elder, there should be enough talk about it before the shot is called.
Strong Mayors would be required, because one Mayor might have to take out the Mayor of another town because he is a problem.
And Strong Mayors should be monitored by Elders.

Government already taxes the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of water (from a consumer's perspective) by restricting competition and rising up the price.

A tax on internet searches is impossible because anyone can make a search engine. Additionally, they're operated from overseas and you have no way to make these sites conform. All it would do is destroy the internet industry in the US. Google? Gone. Yahoo? No more. They'd all close down because nobody would pay for their service which they can get elsewhere for free, or they'd move overseas to escape the oppressive tax.

    Government doesn't work.

Well, since we've set up the system so that they're getting all the education, jobs, promotions... that's were the money is... Makes some sense.

But here's the rub, if we're collecting the monies just to redistribute the "Stash" to blacks, but we're taking it from blacks, and Blacks to too important to be doing the lowly job of the person to person collection, that means the Devil Whitie might get to glean off a small amount of the loot in the circular process. Can't have that!

Taxing a human necessity strikes me as immoral.

Sounds like a lot of trouble to implement. Given we already pay for internet services, why not tax at that point (as I assume it is already, it is here)?

Yeah, there are taxes included in our telecommunications bills, whether directly or indirectly..

The most necessary thing of all has to be our income, yet that gets massively taxed - not only with actual taxes, but with stupid FICA as well. And it's taken from salaried employees before they ever even see it! That has to be even more immoral than taxing water.

Also, this thread reminds me of:

I disagree that all income should be counted as a human necessity but taxation shouldn't apply to an initial proportion of income (the proportion that can be seen as necessary for basic needs). Most taxation does that, though reading up quickly, it seems FICA doesn't (and has an upper cap, which is worse).

We don't need any income tax. Period. It's a bad idea.

Taxation shouldn't apply to any portion of income. If they want to tax spending on non-necessities, then tax non-necessities through a sales tax.

How about simply cutting the welfare and entitlement spending?

With the return of the Tax and Spend Democrats being in power, it would not surprise me if they tax the water we drink and the air we breath and I would expect Republicans to offer verbal masturbation to its opposition before they vote it through.
