Do they really think this is the way to get what they want? Do they not realize how quickly they would be utterly wiped out if they did indeed attempt a nuclear attack? Sure they might have a missile that can reach CA but its widely believed they don't have the technology to mount a warhead on it. Either way this is more empty saber rattling from this paranoid and downright insane country. But hey at least Kim and Rodmans are BFFs!

Sadly, all sorts of US presidents have rewarded their saber-rattling with all kinds of goodies. Though I haven't paid much attention, I assume other countries pay them to shut up for a while as well.

Maybe he wants to be on a level playing field with Obama.
Now we just need to see if Obama will one up him and create a death star to aim at the American people.

Put nuke on a boat, send boat to one of our regional bases close enough to hurt and detonate bomb - not hard to do. They could also drive a car with a bomb near our South Korean Embassy drive it into the embassy and detonate the bomb that would be a "nuclear attack on American soil" or do that in our Chinese Embassy. Or load a bomb onto a frieghter, drive that into any US port and boom on the West Coast.

There are pretty easy options here.

Of course even China wouldn't protect them after that they might decide to invade North Korea to eliminate the regime and bring it into China, might oddly be the best thing that could happen sadly for the common North Korean people.

With North Korea's nuclear and missile program they will soon be able to strike the US if they can't already do so.

It's too bad Clinton didn't deal with the threat when he was on office.

And it's too bad that libs canceled Star Wars.

Who benefits most from the collapse of the US? Who gains global hegemony? Answer = the Russia / China axis. Therefore it is most likely China goading them on. It is no accident the Russians and Chinese are also behind nuclear Iran and arming all America's enemies.

Sadly, they will just continue making their threats like they always do and the rest of the world will continue to ignore them, like they always do. Along the way they will continue their testing and technology build and one day they actually will have the ability to lob a nuke into the U.S. They will continue their dramatic threats and the world will continue to ignore them, then, finally, one day....they will lob that nuke. Then what?

Every time one of these despot regimes makes a nuclear advancement, the world cries "boooo" and some useless sanction gets put on them by the UN. Many, many highly paid people will meet, for many hours or days and much bluster will be made and at the end all they get is some useless sanction. The regimes don't even miss a beat and continue on with their tech advances. Yet again, these many over paid yap masters will meet and more bluster will be made and the cycle will continue. Eventually the regime gets its nuke.

Talk is cheap, always has been, but we waste so much in monetary resources paying these useless bureaucrats to hold their frantic, oh so important meetings and get togethers to talk. There comes a point where some real action is required, that is if you are serious about stopping something in the first place.

Diplomacy should always be tried first, but when you continue to do the same thing over and over and over expecting different results...that's the definition of insanity.

    But Putin is Obama's friend.

He would never do something like that to a fellow autocrat.

    Do ya think?

I don't think we should give North Korea anything.

But those are not idle threats.

Hunger could drive the population to turn on the regime and that could mean the fat little dictator has nothing to lose by nuking America and invading the South.

If he knows the game is up he may decide to go out with a bang.

Doesn't North Korea threaten all the time, only to do nothing? I seem to remember a threat of launching a missile to Hawaii in the summer of 2009 with the same goal in mind.

The Generals in NK don't take a leak without written permission from the pervert. Drop a 'Moab' on his head and the CC centers and most of the zombies will commit suicide. The army will be starving to death by the hundreds of thousands within days. The mountain of dead NK soldiers bodies trying to invade SK will be a thousand feet high.
Unfortunately the population of NK is populated by seriously brain washed people. They will NEVER be able to understand normal human existence. They were born and raised in a national insane asylum.

If only we had just ignored them over the past few decades instead of paying them off. But they make their demands and we pay the ransom even though they have no hostage or leverage to do so.

The threat of military force is the single greatest tool in diplomacy, and nukes are the single greatest military force in the world today. N Korea isn't stupid nor suicidal. They aren't going to just nuke people. However, the threat of nukes added with the right amount of rhetoric may be a good combination for getting them whatever they want diplomatically, from manipulating and weakening S Korea and the U.S. presence there to obtaining aid/food/money.

The threat of military force is a diplomatic tool that Liberals have never understood, will never understand, and is the primary reason they are so easily manipulated by it at the same time they are so pathetically inept when attempting it. With this pack of weakling losers currently in office, N Korea is going about this as intelligently as they can. Kudos to them and their pudgy fat boy of a dictator.

Good for them, because lobing a nuke over here would pretty much erase any evidence that Pyongyang even existed.

It's bound to happen sooner or later somewhere, so I guess Korea is a good a place as any, likely better than Pakistan or India, or even the Middle East, perhaps we should just push it to the limit and get it out of the way...

North Korea can't win the war but they can certainly hurt the US, South Korea and Japan.

So be careful what you wish for.

Don't get me wrong, I love S. Korea, I was stationed there once, this isn't personal its practical. If a renegade nuke strike has to happen that is simply the best option, in terms of overall human lives and overall global effects. A particularly brutal and final response could well deter all others long enough to eliminate the nuclear threat by other means...

Why shouldn't they threaten us? We have our military parked on their border conducting military training operations off their coastlines. Not only that, we're trying to impose more sanctions on them, which will only hurt the common people in N. Korea. Maybe if we stopped with all the interventionist nonsense, we wouldn't have so much hatred directed our way.

You're forgetting that North Korea invaded the South and murdered thousands of innocent people before they were driven back to their side of the border by US forces.

    They are butchers.
