Senator Cornyn is appropriately seeking to make sure that if the president continues to dodge in getting his budgets submitted, there will be no pay for those responsible for getting it submitted, specifically his OMB Director. When you've got someone in there as president who believes that the "rules don't apply to him" this becomes necessary. Anyone in business would have been fired already for this blatant disregard for the job. "Senator John Cornyn appeared on Fox News On the Record with Greta Van Susteren to discuss his No Budget, No OMB Pay amendment to the Senate Democrats budget proposal. This legislation would withhold the pay for the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and other Senate-approved OMB officials for every day the Presidents budget is late. He doesnt think the rules apply to him...this is not optional, this is legally required, and the President, like all of us, takes an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States. You dont get to pick and choose. These are things youre paid to do you should do as the leader of the United States government. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlXZk7rXF5c
You're slipping JP5. We both know that isn't true. If you are in a "too-big-to-fail" bank or Wall Street concern [or Fannie, Freddie, the list goes on....] you can be an utter failure and get a big fat bonus and promotion.
We could pay them with food stamps. Or put them on the same budget someone on Welfare is on. I kind of like the irony.
Extend that to congress as well and things will change. Cut out the pork bills and congress will really spring into action. We the voters have let this happen. As much as I dislike the lack of leadership from Obama congress is the real probelm. Both parties.
Let's REALLY make it painful: Not JUST to the members - but also to their expense accounts. Completely freeze their accounts as if a tax lien was placed on Congress and the White House - something like that. Anything they buy must come from their own pockets. You'd see some quick action then, I wager.
Shouldn't it be to the Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee as well as all members of that committee? Isn't that where all revenue bills originate from including the budget? Or did Sen Conryn take a vacation from the Constitution when he thought of this "bright" idea?
