Obama had a Chairman Mao christmas ornament on the white house tree, but honoring Prime Minister Thatcher is just outta the question????? WTF Obama?
The fact they moved so quickly is unsettling. Down right mean-spirited.It's says more about them than Lady Thatcher. It perfectly fits how such ingrate they truly are. " This bird was a godsend to us,and I should be an ingrate if I forgot to make honorable mention of him in these pages. " -- The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain
Heritageaction.com? LOL "Well placed sources on the Hill?" LOL Such a good lapdoggie you are! Good boy Mikey.............Good boy. LMAO
Dems are still butt-sore that Reagan and Thatcher helped to put a stake through the heart of the Soviet Union. Come to think of it, all of us Cold War vets did.
No, their Communist ideology controls the Democrats (as it does Obama), or that which Reagan and Thatcher sought to destroy! - - - Updated - - - Exactly! you get it!
Thatcher is too divisive as a figure to honour with an unecessary resolution. Thanks America, but you didn't have to live under her so you can't possibly understand.
Odd. There seems to be no pending legislation in the Senate honoring Thatcher. Did someone forget to write it? http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/b_three_sections_with_teasers/active_leg_page.htm Nothing about it was discussed recently. Did someone forget to bring it up? http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/floor_activity/04_10_2013_Senate_Floor.htm It passed the House. Maybe GOP senators just did not think it important enough to bring to the floor. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query
It must have been horrible to get up and have to go to work and contribute to society. I cant even imagine what that must have been like.
THE LIES of the Right are endless so nothing they say is worth even focusing on. Sad really I think we could use a loyal opposition.
I agree. They are really mean spirited. I had a short chat with some hardcore left people on here when her death was announced and they proved just how disrespectful they are, but how much their ideology drives their actions. They won't celebrate her just because of not just her policies but how successful she was with them.
The US-Britain relationship was special for decades prior to Thatcher. All she did was ruin the British working class and middle class, and sold out the country to the highest bidder. She is just like Reagan. Charismatic leaders who had the ability to effectively push their agenda, but who had insanely terrible and immoral political convictions, and whose awfulness is ignored by unthinking right wing loons. Communism manufactured its own demise. Thatcher did nothing to bring it about, and Reagan did only marginally more. There is just no other nice thing to say about the two of them, so right wingers are forced to invent reasons to ignore the massive failures they oversaw. So they pretend like they "won" the cold war, ignoring the obvious internal failures of communism which brought about its own demise(crazy for people who constantly tell us how awful communism was, but despite its awfulness it still needed saints Reagan and Thatcher to bring about its demise). The real median wage in the US increased almost without fail from our founding until Reagan's presidency. It has never recovered. Thatcher did many things of note, but they were almost all destructive and only led to the redistribution of wealth from the middle to the top. Same as happened in America as a result of Reagan. Why should I celebrate that?
It's absolutely bizarre. There's some stuff posted on this forum regarding tossing her corpse into the Thames and suchlike, and while I can understand disagreeing with her politics, the stuff going on is getting embarrassing at best and downright vile at worst. I daresay I didn't see anything quite like this when Reagan died (although I'm sure something far smaller happened) - Meanwhile, the last two liberal icons that died here in the US were Ted Kennedy and Paul Wellstone. Ted was a bane to conservatives here but there wasn't a huge mockery made of him by cons when he died, and Wellstone - well, liberals turned his memorial service into a campaign stop that went so over the top it ultimately backfired on them in the polls. I'm hard-pressed to explain the madness going on there. It's as if the UK has just become Westboro Baptist.
Ya that is a lie. Were you even a member when he died? Conservatives talked about Chappaquiddick incessantly. Not mourning the death of public figures is entirely reasonable behavior, if you found their actions and behavior abhorrent. Many found Thatchers behavior to be just that. So saying as much on her death allows for honesty, and real debate. Not this orwellian nonsense where we are expected to be nice just because someone is dead, which allows for uninterrupted propaganda to be spewed. PS. The Westboro Baptist Church boycotts childrens funerals, and the funerals of private citizens. NOT PUBLIC FIGURES who did much to harm many people. The difference is very obvious!!
