You do know that med is already tracked = by your state's prescription med database that is monitors by your state's Health department and the various law enforcement agency, don't you? Any background check would access that database. however, if you are taking meds that have side effects that can include mental disorders such as bi polar, schizophrenia, or similar conditions. yet, if the drug causes mood swings, anxiety, etc, then there should be an alternative method in which a person would only submit a physician's statement. Or in other words, have in the law where anyone take a drug who side effects does not violate a person's ability to exercise reasonable and ordinary control should eliminate your concern.

The majority of "gun deaths" are suicides... upwards of 70% of those suicides are elderly.

So... why don't we try dealing with HOMICIDE data?

 

They dont like facts.
2011 8500 ,approx, gun deaths. 400 by rifle, just a few by semiauto rifles.
But the rage is against the semiauto rifle.
Go figure.
Dont do anything about gang related hand gun deaths.
Dont do anything about the people that fail instant back ground checks but still try to buy guns.
Dont do anything about the burglaries that supply the guns to most criminals.
Just go after legal gun owners that have not commited a crime.

 

It may or may not need to be in the bill. A bill gives just the basic outline whereas the regulations will provide the particulars. This is how Congress writes bills for the last 20 something years. If the bill passes, that is exactly how it will work since the overall goal of the bill is to reduce the chance significantly for someone who has a mental illness.
