cut immigration along with the birth rate and there will be lots of jobs that will pay well(supply and demand)...the current economy is built on infinite growth with limited resources, like pyramid and ponzi schemes this must and will fail...

You cannot cut immigration, or the birth rate, so why go there?

birth rate is reduced to less than replacement levels with education, very simple and effective...immigration is tougher because we have an economy addicted to perpetual growth sooner or later that mindset needs to confronted and changed...failure to change combined with Climate Change will create the perfect storm later in the century...

We're kind of stuck there, though. We need the offense (labeled "defense" in proper Orwellian fashion) to ensure economic security abroad, e.g. supporting Israel and other countries while invading others, so that our currency doesn't collapse. Those with wealth and power certainly want to keep it (and expand it if possible), so here we are.

It would be nice if we could tear it all down and start fresh with more focus on caring for our own people and our own economy..

While I agree with you to a certain extent; would it be "worth it" to relocate for a minimum wage job in today's market.

In my opinion, the right has no basis to complain about social spending for the least wealthy in our republic, while the wealthiest obtain tax loopholes large enough to drive a yacht through.

What objection can there be to merely and simply correcting for capitalism's, natural rate of unemployment, with existing legal and physical infrastructure in every State and the federal districts. We could be lowering our tax burden and improving the efficiency of our economy at the same time.

Labor could be in a much better position to "self-allocate" if there is recourse to a form of minimum wage that meets or beats our federal poverty guidelines. What private sector would be worse off with the establishment of that form of circulation of money in our institution of money based markets?

Everyone That Wants A Job Should Have One

Really? How immature. Clearly the guy that wrote the OP doesn't understand what a job is.

A job isn't something someone has to support his drug habit, his family, or his useless brother-in-law.

A "job" is a task defined, not by the worker, but by the guy that wants something done and is willing to pay someone else to do it for him.

If not enough people want to pay to have tasks done for them than there are people lining up to do them....then not everybody gets a job.

    Happens all the time.

This (*)(*)(*)(*) isn't complicated, why can't the Low Information Voters figure it out?

    - - - Updated - - -

    They don't.

People who stop looking for work are dropped from the statistics of the "unemployed".

If labor is required to have an extra-legal work ethic, why shouldn't employers in any at-will employment State?

Well...who wants less than replacement level births? Education is great and I suggest everyone try some...but to change our education system will take decades if not more. And due to religious and political BS in society it is unlikely there will be any discussions about reducing the birth rate in the USA.

So today the private economy is not keeping up with population growth, and we can guess the same will apply for the next decade at least, so this means regarding jobs, that we have more supply than demand, which means lower wages on average, which means the bottom line for those who truly wish to work...that person must take personal steps to compete with other workers seeking the job they want...

Why would a person only qualify for minimum wage work? Either they have limited mental and physical capabilities or they have not taken steps to advance their work skills. Regarding the former, all of those who cannot find minimum wage jobs, no matter where they are located, will always be a burden or responsibility to society. Regarding the latter, are the people too lazy and/or has government and society failed in providing a more effective education? If I was young and looking for minimum pay jobs, yes I would relocate to find one, but this is only because I know my goal would be the $75/hour jobs.

who wants it, everyone should want it, the world population is not sustainable where it is now, there are not enough resources in the world to to sustain 7 billion people with an equal quality of life....US birth rate is falling since 2007, birth rate is 1.9 it needs to be 2.1 to be stable...population growth in the USA is due to immigration just as it is in Canada and many other western countries...

stop the immigration and there will be a labour shortage and higher wages...not only is the free market economy based on perpetual growth which impossible it's based on this entrepreneurial myth that everyone can be a millionaire and everyone needs to pursue this dream, it's like a ponzi scheme it's not possible...

It could be more about the marginal utility of income at lower wage scales when considering relocating in our modern economy. Besides, not everyone can qualify for multimillion dollar corporate welfare bonuses.

Would labor be worse off with full recourse to at-will employment laws regarding unemployment compensation; if we solve for a natural rate of unemployment through a form of minimum wage that simply subsidizes labor to not provide labor input to the economy?

There would be nothing preventing labor from going to school, wherever they may currently be, and improve the circulation of money in those local, money based markets.

We could be securing the economic Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity as a temporal and secular moral and legal ethic in modern times.

I need a job. I have an AA degree can type 85wpm I program in COBOL. I have 19 years experience doing the same job, courier, in Central Florida. I am 2 foreign language courses short of starting my BS degree. But nobody is hiring. I've gotten 3 job interviews. I have a 1 in 12 chance of getting a nice job at the local college (they interviewed 12 people). I got hired by a company who has taken 6 weeks to do a criminal background check and it still ain't finished yet and I still ain't got paid yet and I have no criminal background. I've even tried the day laborer agencies, they aren't hiring either.

I believe it is disingenuous for the Right to claim that being poor or in poverty is only an Individual problem with any rate of unemployment above one percent. That inefficiency under capitalism can be solved by socialism, with existing legal and physical infrastructure.

You can't simply turn on and turn off and turn on people's reproductive behaviors. Earth can sustain more people but we must adapt to other technologies and sustainability. All people will never have an 'equal quality of life'; this stuff moves at different speeds in different areas for different reasons. Population growth needs to be stable or increasing...not declining. You can't stop the immigrant labor because most of it is sorely needed by industry. While I wish to say all of this is extremely complex, I also believe it is very basic, and none of the so-called magic bullets solve any of the problems. There is no guarantee of a job for people so if someone wants a job that someone must seek out and compete for that job. If someone wishes to earn more then that someone needs to take personal steps to increase their workplace value...

Either we must have faith in capitalism and free enterprise and the global economy or we don't. People and business are only willing to fund a certain government so government is critically handcuffed in trying to do things differently and/or better...

I've always said that looking for a job is the most difficult task we have today. I'm long out of the workplace but I fully understand what people are experiencing and in many cases it's not fun. No matter what work talent an individual might have, that person must be available to those companies no matter where they are located. I also believe in the system of starting at the bottom and working up...getting my foot in the door. I know this goes against the instant gratification that most people have but being employed at any level is better than being unemployed...

Unless of course, one is "too big to fail", as a privilege and immunity, for only some of the citizens in the several States.

    - - - Updated - - -

Are you really claiming we should not respect a moral Tradition for the rule of law, instead of merely the rule of men, especially in modern times?

of course you can, china has done it in a heavy handed way but did it...else where it is happening everywhere that people have access to education especially girls...everywhere population growth has declined to stable declining numbers quality of life has increased....indefinite growth is ensuring a date with catastrophe...

we don't need to suck up to industry, if industry can't find employees then there is either too much industry or they're not paying an adequate wage, it's the free market system at work but in reverse...if industry wishes to make a profit it needs to take steps to recruit employees, it must pay it's workforce it's true value...

you're in a small minority if think that's true...it's often mentioned that we need the resources of another five earths for everyone to live the lifestyle that western industrialized nations enjoy...ocean fish stocks collapsing and an estimated one billion people going to bed hungry every night and you think we have room for more?

'Too big to fail' is nothing but a political catch-phrase with zero meaning.

I'm not claiming anything? Laws are laws...period and have nothing to do with morals...

China tried to solve a perceived problem and caused other problems...this is not a success story.

Access to education is great but it's still up to each individual to force change.

Money, or in this case wages, is a negative motivator!

Yes we have room for more and can do much more for those already inhabiting this rock!

IMO the collective we grossly mismanage our use of Earth...we can do better...
