"Console Wars" is consumerism at its worst.

The best control for a first person shooter is a keyboard and mouse, by far. I'm talking specifically about Counter-strike.

I got HALO when it first came out in 2001 and was very disappointed. After Counter-strike 1.5 and Perfect Dark 64, playing Halo made me realize that first person shooters had already peaked and were never going to be any better. And they've consistently gone downhill over the past 13 years.

Consoles are technologically obsolete but companies like Nintendo and Sony don't want you to realize that. They want consumers to think in old conventional terms, when the fact of the matter is that PC's can outperform those little consoles any day of the week.

    I got a Nintendo Game Boy back before I was 6. Then I got a Game Boy Color, a Nintendo 64, a Playstation 1, and a Playstation 2. In 2005 I got the Xbox 360, in 2012 I got a PS3. The entire time I've had a PC.

The "console war" is a joke. After owning both I prefer the PS3 only because I can play my movies on it. Other than that there's only silly differences like the UI. To be honest I'm going to give this generation a miss until an exclusive I like comes up. PC gaming has come so far, such that pretty much all games are better on the platform, the only issue is availability.

So yeah, stop buying into the gaming industry's game! They want you opposed to each other so you'll drive sales.

competition drives technology. If not for competition, we'd all still be playing PONG and thinking it's the best thing since sliced bread.

The average gamer could spend time doing something else in their free time.

That's because most people are too stupid to realise this. Are you really telling me that each time you unpack the next generation entertainment device, you are happier than the last time you did this 5 or so years ago, and more importantly do you maintain that hapiness longer than you did the first time?

And that would make people just as happy as playing CoD.

Well I generally don't enjoy unpacking items any more than once. Newer game systems, however, are generally more fun to play, with a few exceptions for really crappy systems, and exceptions for the 'nostalgia' effect. Are would you tell me it wouldn't make any difference to you if you played Atari or Rome Total War II?

Or are you too stupid to tell me that this looks like more fun than Atari?

AFAIK it's the same for all games that are available on both platforms. Research consistently shows that K&M users own console users hands-down. It's not even close.

I've played total war and I like it, but if I was older, I would have enjoyed Atari just as much.

Yeah PCs are better, but there are downsides. When you don't need quite so many keys, an Xbox controller is more comfortable and easy to use. Its also fun playing a sweet game on the big screen from a distance. PC doesn't have motion controls like consoles do. And consoles are much cheaper.

I said the same thing about Nintendo 64, but the upgrades that came later were definitely worthwhile. Give it some time.

I agree though that a company with standardized upgrades, standard plugs and all that would be more valuable to me.

I like to use my PS3 controller plugged into my PC, you can emulate a regular joypad or an Xbox 360 configuration with DS3.

Personally I've never seen the appeal of motion controls, except on some games on Wii. I also have a Wii. There are ways of making your Wiimote work with your PC, but I've never tried.

PCs are actually cheaper if you build them yourself, but you'll want to spend a good $500-$1000 for a proper setup.

I'm waiting for the reviews from E3 to come in before I comment on the OP in this thread.

Sure, if you're a techie pcs aren't too bad (I'm just good at shopping for refurbished pcs with great value), but your average joe isn't going to know or be willing to learn how to build a pc. They're looking at the full retail prices of laptops (I still don't understand the huge preference for laptops, but it exists in the younger average joe crowd) to the retail price of an xbox or ps3.
