None. Asking a person to identify the 'best' ethnic group among the 'white' population group, a patently ridiculous and highly collectivist grouping for humanity, is overtly and illegitimately biased and irrational.

Anglo-Celtic originally. Most of the transported convicts came from Ireland and Scotland.

About 26% of Australia's population are born overseas. 40% of Australians have at least one parent born overseas. Out of those 6 million born overseas, just under 2 million are from the UK. Anglo-Saxons don't make up the largest ethnic group in Australia any more.

Germans for their precision, dynamism, and efficiency.

Irish for the warmth of their hearts and the poetry of their souls.

German/Irish: A wonderful fusion in the Pan Euro Identity of Old America.

I come from a very multicultural part of Australia. In my class at school I'd have Italians, Dutch, Germans, Greek, Spanish, Yugoslav and of course British. Somehow, the Europeans did very well academically.

I have a couple of very close friends who are of Irish decent, one born in Belfast. Very easy going and hospitable, but have inbuilt bullsh!t alarms (if you know what I mean). I'm of German birth, but I can find Germans, and to a certain extent Dutch, a bit cold at times.

For outright passion about just about everything, goes to the Italians. Extremely friendly and welcoming. Spanish and Greeks come close.

Unfortunately I cannot see this super race fulfilling their destiny, what with Germans selling beer in 1 litre glasses, and Irish drinking anything and everything you put in front of them...

2 million from the UK, but the UK isn't the only country that Anglo-Saxon immigrants come from.

That being said, its interesting that Australia is (historically) mostly Gaelic. I marked down Gaelic, just because of the richness of the language and cultural history, not because of some inherent genetic superiority, even though redheads are hot.

Do any of those people live in the Caucasus? The list certainly exhibits the extreme ignorance of even their own fantasised groups by the racists.

I think this thread is inherently racist and I'm fairly sure the OP holds racist sentiments.

But if we're going to go there....

While many of these ethnicities have contributed to history, lately (as in the past 300 years) Anglo-Saxons have contributed the most to advancing civilization.

He's not talking about ethnicity or culture, he's talking about race. It's a distorted concept, that we Americans have so completely internalized, that we think it came straight from the Bible. :blankstare:

I'm Anglo-Saxon but not of British heritage.

Much of the redheads in Ireland can be attributed to Viking blood. Dublin for example was originally a Viking settlement.

I'll be curious to see how many people actually vote for Jews.

Considering this forum, if it's 0 I'll not be surprised.

The Angles and the Saxons were both Germanic tribes, as are the original Scandinavians. Russians also have Scandinavian roots,, Kievan Rus were Vikings.

The Anglo-Saxons were mercenary troops, a tiny minority (perhaps as high as 10% in some eastern parishes). They came in rowing boats, and some current estimates are as low as 10,000 in all, because they couldn't manage the North Sea. They contributed a language that has done well, but as an ethnicity they hardly get off the ground.

Well, the original Scandinavians (on the north side anyway) were the Sami.

    - - - Updated - - -

Then why are whites typically referred to as WASPs? If this is true, then we should instead just call most American whites Scotch, Irish, or German.

Hmm. My understanding was that red was common among the Irish and Scottish before the Viking incursions, but it was once more common than people think, certainly more common than now. One account describes Caesar as a redhead. I've always been fascinated by characteristics of past leaders that break from how they're remembered. People always seem to think that the Romans were dark like today's Sicilians, and people are surprised to hear that there were black Roman generals.

So if not of British descent, how are you Anglo-Saxon?

Wasn't there a bit of Saxon migration to Britain after the withdrawal of the Romans when Vortigern invited them as mercenaries to fight those north of the 'wall'? Lands were given to Saxons to settle?

Aren't some counties in England named after Saxon names? I'm thinking Essex, Wessex, Sussex etc. The 'Saxon' shore?
