School Withholds Water From Student: Muslims Might Get Offended

The teacher of the kids should have known that prepubescent children are exempt from fasting during Ramadan. Maybe it was an honest mistake on her part, maybe she's a bit ignorant. Is the teacher Muslim (which I doubt)?

The school apologised to parents and it was a one time event, so what's the issue? The teacher involved needs some serious retraining especially if the school is multi-ethnic.

Oh my bad. I thought you were saying the article was an overreaction. Of course the teacher overreacted. That's what hysterical liberals do.

 

This reminds me of something. During the 1960s when I was in primary school, my school started what became known as 'Pie Day". Beef meat pies were sold at the school canteen on a Fridays for lunch. Fridays were chosen because the principal thought, being at the end of the week, it would make a nice change to school lunches.

Lasted about three weeks. The local Catholic priest voiced his disapproval fervently. 'Pie Day' was changed to Thursdays.

Not sure about the UK, but in the US 99.999% (or some huge aggregate thereof) of all teachers are liberals- and I say this as someone who has been a full-time teacher for twenty years, and a sub for longer. Teachers in Brit-Cit, I couldn't say where they lean as a political group.

The entire newspaper article is a farce. The headline is designed to catch out fools and the illiterate. The headline doesn't even 'match' the body of the main article. It's a classic example of sensationalism. The net has been cast and the minnows have been caught.

This is a wonderful example for my media studies class,,, how NOT to construct a headline.

 

I studied with quite a few Muslims,, Indonesians, Malaysians and Pakistanis. No one got their noses out of joint if anyone ate in front of them during Ramadan.

 

And only a right-wing, Christofascist nutjob tells kids to pray in school. We're even.

 

Read the Bible. Jesus Christ addressed that issue of prayer in public. He said "NO." You FAIL.

I had a couple of souvlakia yesterday downtown near the immigrant shelter , i did spotted many people from muslim countries but non seem to be offended , the purpose of tolerance is not to oppress ourselves .

not to drink water in front of muslim children would have been more polite but ofcourse they can drink , especially if s/he is a child.
