This is a true story about a young man born in Aleppo, Syria in 1985. During the 28 years of his life, what happened during the last two years was like a nightmare. He agrees to share his story to http://www.fnotw.org

PARTI I http://fnotw.org/Article/Full/1255
PART II http://fnotw.org/Article/Full/1261
PART III http://fnotw.org/Article/Full/1279

Part I
Before the Arab Spring movement

Army in Syria

Two year military service is compulsory for men in Syria. Ironically, you have to join the army before being able to start a new life. After finishing my study, I knew that I was faced with the military before being able to start working. So I joined the army reluctantly. It does not mean that I am not a nationalist and that I hate my country. But I consider the military service meaningless. The government declares that Syria is in war with Israel; therefore every man must serve the army.

Alawites - the minority that is in charge

Nevertheless, there are voluntary men, 90% of whom are Alawites. They are fewer in numbers but control almost everything in Syrian army. Even though the Alawites constitute only 10% of Syrian population, they are controlling not only the army but also intelligence branches and all the top positions in the government. The Alawites got the governing power after the military overthrow in 1970 by Hafiz Al-Assad, the previous president of Syria. His son, Basher Al-Assad, succeeded him after his death. So they have been in power both in the government and the army for 43 years. They are controlling everything in Syria. By everything I mean economy, trades, companies, mobile and communicationÂ… Just everything!

Emergency law since 1963: the Syrian people received no protection from the constitution

The Syrian people work to live. Most of them work in agriculture or in old industries. Many of them had many jobs at the same time to make ends meet. Even though their lives were financially OK, the Syrian people had to live without any democracy. There was emergency law. The Syrian people did not get any protection from the law. If there was any doubt about someone, he/she would be put in prison and no one would know anything about them because no one was allowed to ask anything about them. The Syrian people had to live without justice.

Hama massacre - the extreme atrocities

I know families with lost members since 1982, the time of the massacre that killed 42,000 people only in a few days. That was the year when Hafiz Al-Assad fought against the Islamic Brotherhood movement. The government killed too many people and scathed too much. Innocent people were arrested without any accusation. When the government had calmed down the movement, they planned to lead Syria by Intelligence Law. The law applied only on the Syrian people, not on the outside enemies.

Syrian people in fear of the government

After Syrian people had suffered the disastrous destruction, they lived with no policy, constitution to protect them. The Emergency still remains up till now. They tried to stay far away from political issues and the government. The government had spies everywhere. The people could not voice their opinions. They are not allowed to criticize the government. If someone is reported, the police would come and torture and put them in prison.

The Alawites (again, 10% of the population) showed that they are democratic and the rest of the people (90%) are traitors.

Bullet points to avoid big post

• Of course there is no democracy because this thing does not come down from heaven , countries who have it shed their blood to achieve it.
• There isn't any short of justice anywhere, in all cases big fish eats small fish and the only that remains is an illusion of "law"
• People in Hama attacked the military first , they shouldn't
• Alawis are the most sane version of islam , better them than some "muslim bros" and long bearded people from 7th century
• Bringing Saudi criminals to do war for them was a big mistake
• He keeps on mentioning the ruling class by their religious sect , this says something about his beliefs
• I did my compulsory military service as well, yes it is a waste of time but nothing to (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about
• Constitutions are violated all the time all around the world , why you think Snowden is hunted?
• In Syria Assads are controlling everything in the rest of the world it is banks , you can not get rid of overlords by complaining.

Hello mutmekep, nice to know you
One note:
this is not my article :D I take it from http://www.fnotw.org. In this Syrian conflict, I remain neutral :D but I will answer your question still.
- Agree that there is no democracy in this world. We are all fighting for it but there should be some limitation and smart way of scarifying. If all your blood flown away but nowhere notice it, that would be a waste. This article is one small voice trying to shout to the world.
- Agree, totally agree. It is now happening everywhere. Big countries dominate the world with the ambitious of richness and power under the semblance of 'law'
- I did not know that fact  Thank you. Do you have any source?
- Other opinions I have no comment :D because I have heard different people saying different opinions and I dont know who to believe :(

You can use "reply with a quote" button

You can read about Hama massacre HERE

Democracy is only one thing, the conscious citizen should always be in alarm and ready to fight for his rights, the life he deserves, respect and equality . No blood is ever wasted , the country i live spent countless centuries under occupation and one unsuccessful revolution always provided the fuel for the next one.

Because of the current situation, because of our absolute conviction that the Criminal Regime in Syria will not be stopped or removed without the use of force and coercion, and because of the rapid increase in number of the defected soldiers as well as officers of the Syrian Regular Armed Forces, we formed the Free Syrian Army in the 27th of July 2011. This FSA is the corner stone of the future Syrian Army that conists of all Syrians regardless of their religion, sectarian or ethnic origin, belief, or inclination, and regardless of their different traditions and cultures. It is an Army for all, whose purpose and only reason of existence is to defend and protect Syria and the Syrians. It is also the only Miltary Force that assumes the responsibility of removing this Criminal Regime. We, the FSA, will spare no effort to strike this Criminal Regime along with its criminal militia (know as Shabieha) as hard as possible in order to protect the demonstrators and defend the cities and villages that are struck down by the Criminal Regime and its militia. We have made an oath to be the dutiful soldiers of this Great Revolution, and therefore we will do everything within our means to achieve our purpose.

With the help of Allah, victory will be ours and Inshaallah it will be in our hands'reach.

Long live Syria freed from tyranny and dictatorship.

Colonel Reyad Mousa Al Al'as'ad

I have one neutral opinion about Syrian conflict from an outsider who was also the one reported the previous article.

Source: http://fnotw.org/Article/Full/1347

Opinion on Syria

Blood can be wasted if no one knows about it. I just want to give an example about MANY people has died but it is such a waste. It is the Tiananmen massacre in 1989 and right now is the happening in Tibet. Many people has died but the media keeps censoring the truth, no one knows about it and so it is meaningless. What I mean is that the people can sacrifice for democratic but it should be heard and supported by the rest of the world through media.

You have a very short understanding of time for a European . THEY will change things when they feel ready for it and they have to succeed on themselves , democracy can not be spoon fed with the assistance of outside forces . No blood is never waster, Tien Amen square will inspire generations of Chinese for millennia .

Ok, for an european who has a lot of Chinese young friends, I can tell you that the youth in China does not have any idea about Tiananmen event at all so how it can inspire them? The Chinese government censor everything about it domestically very well. Dont tell me that I have short understanding of blah blah  just to support your opinion of 'no blood is ever wasted'... I just give the 'enough' condition for your opinion is the MEDIA which is always needed to amplify the voice of people who fight for democratic.

Boy are you right about this!

The Chinese Communist Party made sure anyone who was still living after the massacre and was vocal about it was either sent to prison or killed.

I remember watching those brave kids in the square building the Goddess of Liberty Statue.

What happened to them was murder...cold blooded and cowardly.

Girl, I am a girl :D
If you come to China, you cant use google at all and if you use renren and weibo to find anything about that massacre, you cant. The way they block everything on media is unbelievable.
I was in China for 1 year and OMG none of the youth knows about the Tiananmen event and when I asked the old, they rolled their eyes and said that: "dont talk to loud, they might catch you" (in chinese. so 'they' here is the police I think)

I am 20 :D I was in Hongkong too, the media there is quite transparent and reliable and I can say that Hongkong is one of the most democratic place in Asia. Too bad they will be soon back to China completely (reunification was in 1999 but they can freely have there own constitution until 2050). That might be why Snowden flied there (of course there are also many other reasons made Snowden make that decisions).

Yes, in pinyin, it pronounced like 'yang gui zi'. yang means foreigner, gui means evil and zi means man or boy or son :D so basically it means that you are an evil foreigner :D

China under reports it's population in order to get Human Rights groups off it's back and the Chinese Communist Party states the population to be 1.4 Billion when it is really 1.7 Billion.

If you were to go to rural areas in China you would see extreme poverty as the Communist Party funnels money to develop the cities and create massive work projects such as that big dam and because of this those who visit China see a fairly well of urban population but they constitute about 700 Million people as there is another 1 Billion people living in extreme poverty.

Very Good.

I am happy to talk to someone who is not full of crap! LOL!

So...what do you think about China trying to compete with the U.S. Military when they really should spend that money developing infrastructure in the rural areas.
