As I said, he is certainly sympathetic to Manning. Read my post again. Did Ellsberg ever serve time ? Further, can you show me any revelations from Manning that will come close to The Pentagon Papers ? Manning is in jail for a long time. Ellsberg is still earning decent speaking and writing fees. Figure that out, if you can. Try again. - - - Updated - - - I quoted your posts. You haven't a clue about Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers. I've proven that several times now.
Ok, I already pointed out where the Nixon corruption comes into play under the context I talked about. You are the only who doesn't have a clue about Nixon & the corruption that ensued under him. I've proven that several times now, as well.
Double taps. I believe in the future the video of the journalists being killed, then once citizens tried to render first aid, them being shredded... with their children... will eventually carry a strong argument against our war practices... especially concerning drones. This is actually considered a war crime... killing first responders to a military strike. It is not what we are supposed to do... but it seems to be common practice. There are current cases surrounding double tapping drones. I predict this will resurface.
He tried leaking it to the press after he thought that the reports didn't go far enough and he wanted to tell the public that he started it. Facts really hurt, don't they.
Ah there's those insults that I know you had in you. Knew you couldn't refrain from slinging them for long. Drake went to the press after all attempts to go the legal route was for naught. He released information to the Baltimore Sun that were unclassified, of which, was 100% legal. Then, during the time the IG report came out, the NSA thought Drake was behind the leaks and began searching all of his personal items, even raiding his house where his wife & kid lived. Guess what? They found 0 evidence that he had anything illegal or did anything illegal. Then, even after the NSA was ruled that their programs were bad, they still indicted him in 2010. Then, after he was acquitted of all charges, the former classification czar, J. William Leonard, filed a complaint stating that the NSA & DOJ wrongfully classified documents to make it seem like Drake had illegal documents in his possession. Thus, they tried pinning something on him, and he didn't work. The full story is here: http://www.whistleblower.org/action-center/save-tom-drake I'd make a rebuttal insult on you, but I think your last statement bodes well enough for me to you, in this case. Don't you think?
No it isn't hard to blame Manning. The uniform of a US Army soldier means something, and this guy soiled it.
You see insults where there are none. The legal route was not "for naught". You have made up your own timeline to fit your fictitious story. 2003 & 2004 IG reports. 2005, Drake goes to Baltimore Sun.
agree. I have serious mixed feeling on both those guys, I think the government is the bigger criminal in some instances. At time I feel the totalitarianism that I fought against when I was younger has now taken root inside the beltway. Perhaps it was there all along
And still Drake did nothing illegal, was put on blast because of it, and has now paid the repercussions because of going 'the legal route'.
Agreed. As a former army corporal with one of the highest security clearances offered, he was way out of line and deserves this punishment. - - - Updated - - - Weak sauce. Join reality.
Yes, you'd apply for a TS before basic if your AFSC required it... Otherwise, you might get it at your duty station, depending on your job requirements... But, what do I know? I've only been in for 12 years or so...
No kidding. Some people are so stupid. Of course the government ought have the ability to classify things. Doesn't mean they always do it appropriately, but they definitely need the ability. And it damn sure is not some Corporal's place to decide what should not be classified.
I was referring to a comment a previous poster made... At any rate, it doesn't matter how people had legitimate access to it, it was still classified...
IIRC he tried to report the stuff up the chain of command and was blanked. 134 years for embarrassing America is quite a slap-down.
What declaration of War against a "terrorist group" has been enacted by our federal Congress, according to the law of nations? Being unable to tell the difference between the common defense and the common offense is bad enough, why doesn't our federal Congress only resort to those social Powers already delegated instead of making up new ones without any delegated authority to do so.
They do more harm than good by classifying things. Plenty of things that have been declassified over the years proves as much. Bradley Manning answers to the citizens, not this corrupt government, so he had every right to leak the information.
No, Bradley Manning answered to the US Army , or rather he was supposed to, or do oaths not mean anything? You people are stupid.
Um, Bradley Manning had to answer to the US Army, which he did, and, will serve time for what he did...
