The OP also completely neglected to mention how the four southern Muslim states came to be part of Thailand against their will.
They aren't separatists, they want independence from a hostile, unelected government that was forced upon them.

 

Name these states and how they came to be under the yolk of Islamic tyranny.

Muslims in the southern provinces of Thailand are citizens of that country. Whether the last elections were fair or not will always be up for debate. But I guess Muslims in that region of Thailand might not recognise any Thai government.

Just to add, it's not the first time a foreign people have been annexed into Thailand. Look at Isan's history.

You missed the point. The southern Muslim states were annexed into Buddhist Thailand without the approval of its citizens. They haven't 'come under the yolk of Islamic tyranny' at all, but fail to recognise the Thai government.

 

I read the Bangkok Post (hard copy) daily. I read of tit for tat killings and violence from both sides.

Quick search here is one incident of a Muslim teacher being shot and killed.

Neither of the articles mentions the ethnicity of the perpetrators and in fact the second article only references the Muslim separatist terror squads.

 

I suppose you don't have much interest in SE Asian history unless it involves the US, but sometime one has to do the most simplest of research when replying to a post or one can look really foolish.

The provinces where the all this Muslim/Buddhist problem is happening once belonged to British controlled Malaya (Muslim). The British in their wisdom handed over these provinces to Theravada Buddhist Thailand in 1909 under the Anglo-Siamese Treaty. Malay Muslims who were once Malays, by a stroke of a pen are now Thai. Read up on this. The Malay people involved were not even consulted nor represented in the agreement.

The agreement was primarily set up so Thailand wouldn't interfere with British trade in SE Asia.

The Thais were very good at this, annexing peoples against their will and without representation with the aid of a foreign power. 1907 all areas south of the Mekong that belonged to Laos, suddenly became part of Thailand by a stroke of a pen from the French and the Thai.

Thai Buddhists are of the Tai group of ethnicities (Tai-Kadai language speakers). Muslims in southern Thailand are generally of Malay decent but also a mix of Tai ethnicity if intermarriages occurred which can happen, especially before 2004.

No doubt the Muslim teachers were killed by a Thai Buddhist. Or are you suggesting Muslim killing Muslim in the southern Thai insurgency?

Where does it mention 'Muslim separatist terror squads'? It only mentions "Islamist insurgency".

Did you graduate from high school with basic reading skills?

 

British Malaya became Malaysia and Singapore not a part of Thailand, name the 4 independent provinces which were inhabited by a majority Muslim population which were ceded to Thailand.
