Malacca Sultanate founded around 1400. The first ruler was Parameswara died in 1414. He never converted to Islam but his son did, at the age of 72. From the early 1500s Malacca came under Portuguese rule for 130 years. Then it was taken by the Dutch in 1641 and later by the British in the early 1800s.
