Seriously, given the choice of regions to visit, support, or even consider for vacation.....would you wish to be in a Middle Eastern country?

A work colleague just returned from a two week holiday in Tunisia. Had a great time. A couple of weeks ago another couple I know spent a week in Sharm el sheikh, Egypt. No problems at all, and they had a great time too. Much of the Middle East is still quite safe. Turkey, despite bordering Syria, is still a popular holiday destination for Britons.

I have spent a lot of time throughout the ME. There is some rich culture there and beautiful deserts. I still want to make it to the Great Pyramids sometime in my life.

Because there's lots to see in those countries, and the climate is nice for a while. The countries aren't really s horrible as they are seemed to be in the west.

I would really really really like to go to Egypt.

But a tall American/German with blue eyes and blonde hair seem to be hated there. Fear for my life.

I just wanna see the Pyramids before Al-Qaeda blows em uP!

I hate the crime in the Middle East, and I'm a bit too nurtured by the middle class West to actually want to move there, but North Africa + the Middle East are two of my favorite areas in the world environment wise. I really dig the desert.

The Middle East is not a single place. Countries in that part of the world vary greatly and there are lots of really nice places to go. Oddly, you are likely safer in most places there than you would be traveling within the US. Almost uniformly, Muslims are extremely friendly to tourists.
