When has the president offered concessions to the GOP?

Why is it always the responsibility of the GOP to compromise and not the president? What specifically has he offered as a compromise? What has Harry Reid offered?

What is THEIR "compromise"? "We control the House....but even in the majority, if we held a vote on a clean CR bill, we'd lose because many in our own caucus would vote for it and against the Tea Party.....plus we lost the Senate by even more and the White House in November 2012.....but you have to do exactly what we say and try to crash your signature domestic policy law because we 'represent the real majority' in this country....though the elections and even our own caucus disprove that!!!!!"

Well . . . there's your problem. Apparently leftwingers confused the notorious cloture vote [when Democrats still had the legislative majority in both houses] and then the infamous reconciliation trick used [after they lost their domination of the Legislative Branch] to make the Obamacare bill law over the refusal of every Republican to vote for it, for actual compromise . . . and have threfore been confused about what 'compromise and 'negotiation' actually mean ever since.

Well as you know . . . as the pro-Obama media pundits and journalists declare as truth for the Left's perception of the same then so mote it be in reality. It seems to work for them.

You lot keep forgetting that compromise on ACA has been what the dems have done from day one and they're not giving you anymore. Go back and read about what the bill USE to be and tell me there was no compromise.

Is there a parliamentary problem you want to address? If the GOP can do this legally, what's really the problem? Other than the fact that you don't like them trying to stop or delay a law that's already been written? It's sort of like DOMA, isn't it? How bad do you want the Democrats to stay out of the way of enforcing that one? Why it's the law of the land! Clinton's "signature" domestic policy, lol!

Look it up. Once Democrats got tired of acting like adults they shut it all down. Cloture when they 'owned' the legislative branch and the Reconciliation 'trick' when they didn't. Any bill that becomes law with ALL of the opposition party refusing to vote for it . . . was not the result of real compromise no matter what -- say -- MSNBC or the New York Times might have stated to the contrary.

I'm asking you SUPPOSED believers in democracy and representative government....to hold a vote in the House for a "clean" CR, no defunding/delaying/etc. crap.

Why would you be scared of that?....Republicans have the majority in the House, so it would....supposedly....be quickly defeated.

Or are you not even the majority in the ONE half-branch of Government that you control????

    - - - Updated - - -

Hold the clean CR vote.....if Republicans are united, then it'll be defeated and the Shutdown will continue until "Obama concedes to compromise".

UNLESS....you aren't even the real majority even in the House..and it passes with Republican votes. :)

Yep and these are the same people who thought that passing Obamacare via cloture and reconciliation trickery were good things to do to this nation. Go figure.

And you are the same people who SUPPOSEDLY like representative democracy.....but refuse to even allow a vote on a clean CR, because you know the radicals are NOT the true majority in the House.

Again, if you look at the original bill, and how it got stripped into the skinless, shivering cat that is now the ACA, you'll see Republicans getting their demands for the amendments to the bill every step of the way.

There were 721 amendments to ACA from Republicans vs. 64 from Democrats.
EDIT - and the final tally of amendments? 161 republican amendments and 36 democrat amendments actually passed.
Stop acting like that didn't happen because it did. The democrats played catch with you guys and you decided to throw the ball over the neighbor's fence for no reason and now neither of you are in the game. Democrats aren't going to get the ball for the GOP when they're the idiots that threw it over the fence on purpose in the first place.

Translation, the GOP did not let the Left get away with crafting a bill that would have made an old style Marxist shudder with excitement and so the petulant leftwingers picked up their marbles and declared the game finished. Yeah . . . people noticed. Why do you think Democrats were punished during the 2010 mid-term elections and why do you think that to this day the majority of people polled want to see Obamacare repealed?

So, again, you're ignoring the compromise and claiming the democrats never compromise. Good job. Apparently you know how compromise works: Ignore any compromise you get then demand all or nothing from the people that compromised with you. Cause that's super awesome.

You mean sign off on Obamacare when the majority of citizens want to see it revoked?

It's pretty much like date rape. "Come on darling, let's go to second base"

    "No!"

"Okay . . . then we'll do this the other way."

    Yeah, people did notice.

Wrong again. Many people don't even realize ACA *IS* Obamacare. How would they even know it's history if they don't even know what it's called, what provisions or in it, etc.? There's been massive lack of any information overall about the bill, much less it's history so people are looking at this shutdown tactic as "GOP's are in the right!" No. No they are not. They're scummy, sore losers. Emphasis on losers.

So whenever Obama himself has addressed it as Obamacare that's made him -- in your own words -- a "scummy, sore loser"? Sweet!

Clearly you don't have your logic in place today. You should get that fixed.

What the republicans really don't want anyone to notice in their continual whinging about democrats not negotiating is the fundamental principle involved.

Both a continuing resolution to fund the government and a debt ceiling increase should not be held ransom to negotiations on any policy issue.

Seems that even after 40 votes to defund obamacare, the republicans have attempted to use the CR as leverage to achieve something that they have continually failed to do. Obamacare is the law of the land, passed by both the house and senate, signed into law by the president, declared constitutional by the USSC and was voted by the majority of americans in two presidential elections.

Trying to get what you want after being soundly and roundly defeated by holding government operations hostage is unpatriotic and stupid.

Just wait until the loonies on the right attempt to subvert the good name and credit of the United states in some delusional fog that it won't be a global financial catastrophe if the US defaults. It'll be way to late to say sorry if that happens.

The ACA passed without ONE Republican vote in either chamber of congress. You therefore cannot credibly claim that widespread compromise existed. Any changes that were made, were for the express purpose of gaining votes from red state Democrats

Did it not go up for vote?

See, that's the thing...in order to have the luxury of majority, you have to win a majority of the seats. So really, the complaint isn't that ACA was passed, it's that you guys sucked at getting elected in large enough numbers to stop it.

The very essence of Obamacare is compromise.

It's mostly Republican policy, maintaining big profits for drug companies and insurance companies.

You want compromise on top of compromise for the party that was trounced in the election???

You seem confused. You are claiming how much compromise was in this bill, to which I replied to you that there is no compromise with Republicans in this bill as evidenced by the fact that it did not receive one Republican vote. This nonsense about " did it not go up for a vote" and " in order to have the majority...." is just a REALLY poorly veiled attempt at dodging the obvious fact that compromise did not exist with the ACA.
