A One party System, perhaps better?

Since the Repugs are through, wouldn't we be better with a 'one-party' system.

Surely, a less liberal wing of the Democratic party would evolve. The south-east and the mountain states?

 

One party only works when the Government is actively killing their citizens in the street... A two party system is needed to fool the public into believing there is a choice when in reality there isn't. The Republican Party isn't over because it will still be used just as the Democratic Party is used to divide and conquer the nation.

 

You'd like that wouldn't you.

 

Sure, one party systems have been so good for their citizens historically.

I disagree with the premise of liberal and Democratic party. The Dems are a centrist party. We have no true Leftist party in the USA.

 

How about the party with the most cash wins, regardless of who it is that they represent? Oh.....wait..

No. Then there is no incentive to fix the system if problems arise in the future. After all, who is going to vote you out? A third party?

I'm of the opinion that a no party system would be desirable.

 

The US had a one-party system between 1801 and 1865. The heyday of slavery.

 

Democrats and Whigs doesn't count somehow?

 

The Whigs were "me-too" except they were more in favor of tariffs. The Jefferson Democrats - reinforced by Andrew Jackson and James K. Polk - ruled the roost until the Civil War.
