Not Thanks Giving yet. I'm not there, but appreciate the sentiment.

Problem is....when we do not celebrate it, certain people get pissed off!

You don't have to celebrate anything you don't to. The only ones that I know that gets pissed off are the kids that don't get any presents..

But according to Fox and Bill Oreilly. Palin, etc., unless EVERYBODY is telling Christians "merry Christmas", then it is a "War on Christmas".

There's only 1 holiday this time of year that uses a tree as a very important, meaningful religious symbol, and we all know what that is. I can understand why Christians would be offended to have one of their symbols usurped into being a generic "holiday tree".

If we put a Menorrah on public land (something I have no problem with) but all the frightened pols called it the "Holiday Candles" then I imagine that Jewish people would be a bit off put as well.

You are wrong.. Political correctness says to use happy holidays... I prefer Merry Christmas and will continue to say Merry Christmas. Like it or not Christmas will always be Christmas.

    Hasa diga eebowai!

Almost nothing about Christmas is uniquely Christian. The tree has no religious significance to Christians.

That's not political correctness. It's just correctness.

This is by far the dumbest complaint this time of year. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing pathetic. No one is excluding christmas. They are just including other holidays in the holiday season, you know so everyone is involved? I'm sorry your super duper exclusive yacht club now has lesser beings in it, but that doesn't mean you have to stop going there.

There is a certain level of irony here. Now that they feel they are being excluded, they freak out. Well how do you think other people used to feel?

And the Jewish should be. In their tradition it has always been a Menorrah and should remain their Menorrah and the politically correct should leave it alone. If the politically correct don't like it - TO DAMN BAD! Just like the Christmas tree should remain the Christmas tree.

The difference being that the Menorah actually has some sort of religious significance. The christmas tree however is just a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing tree with glitter on it.

You're entitled to your own opinions, but you're not entitled to your own facts and what you wrote is just not true. The Christmas tree is a religious symbol just as much as those 9 candles arranged in that specific pattern are a religious symbol.

You need a menorah in order to celebrate Hanukkah It's an important part of the holiday. However you do not need a Christmas tree to celebrate Christmas.

AND SO WHAT?! The CHRISTMAS tree w/all it's glitter has always been part of the CHRISTMAS tradition.....

Then along came the politically correct w/their bloomers all in a tight wad and THEY decided it should be called a holiday tree and everyone should be saying "Happy Holiday" instead of "Merry Christmas" so no one will be offended...... if anyone is going to be so shallow and small minded that they decide to be offended over a tradition that has been going on for generations .... well, that's THEIR problem!

All they need to do is have their own holiday & celebration in their own way and WHO CARES?!

The politically correct bastards need to get a life and leave other people alone......

    - - - Updated - - -

The little kids do! It's part of their excitement and enjoying THEIR Christmas!

Hey, moron, if you want to go back a couple thousand years, we can talk about how the whole season is based primarily on pagan rituals. But if you want to talk about the present day, then the Christmas tree is a religious symbol as much as 9 candles are for Jewish people.

Tell us, genius, if it is not a religious symbol, then what other religions use it?

    No, it hasn't.

Well technically christmas trees originated from pagans and other ancient people, so who really renamed the christmas tree? If you actually think about it calling it a holiday tree is more accurate.

Apparently you care since your knickers are so twisted over a holiday tree

Perhaps you should take your own advice? You, and anyone else, are certainly free to call your private trees whatever you like. But when it comes to PUBLIC trees on PUBLIC property, they should include all people.

AND? So you don't care for Christmas trees..... why should that be anyone else's problem? If you had a Christmas tree when you were a child, did you hate it or have some kind of problem w/it?

First of all, enjoy your ban. How does the present christmas tree represent anything other than rampant consumerism and dick measuring?

I never said I had anything against christmas trees. But I don't understand why christians get so upset about using the trees for other holidays as well. All a christmas tree is is a tree with decorations on it. When a tree is a public display on public property, it should include all members of the community who wish to participate.

What you do with your own tree on your own property is your business. I couldn't care less about anyone's personal christmas, pagan, chanukkah, or 666 tree.

I don't give a rat's ass about the origin of the Xmas tree or what pagan history it may have. Halloween has a Pagan history to it, but the little people enjoy it.

Yeah, I know you politically correct folks get your feathers all ruffled over a Christmas tree being called a Christmas tree if it's on public property. You have nothing more important in your life to think about?

And christians don't try to claim the jackolantern as a christian symbol.

It is apparent you have no interest in actually addressing my opinion and would rather continue whining about how crucified you feel.

The fact that you had to pull out a custom from "the former Soviet Union, Turkey and Vietnam" really supports my point more than it does yours, now doesn't it?

As for your lame "Hanukkah Tree", just because one person does something like that, doesn't make it a symbol for all of Judaism. So when I asked "what other religions use a tree" obviously your answer is "none of them." Thank you for proving my point.

Actually, it's the other way around - you politically correct freaks feel crucified b/c we want to keep the Christmas tree, as is...... what it's always been called for generations....

What are you talking about? I already know what your opinion is and I already addressed it......

No, Christians don't claim the jack-o-lantern as a Christian symbol... does this surprise you?
