The photos used were of an Israeli demolition in the Negev.. When you use sources like BareNakedIslam this is what you get.

Angolan government denial follows media storm alleging authorities destroyed Mosques and banned Islam.

    Did Angola Really Ban Islam?

    BY Carissa Loethen

Has Angola – a Southern African nation – enacted an outright ban on Islam? That’s quite the claim some media outlets are making — but the reports seem flimsy at best.

India Today reports the Angolan Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva made the announcement at the 6th Commission of the Angolan National Assembly last Friday. It says "Silva was quoted by news agencies and Angola newspapers as saying, 'The process of legalisation of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human rights, their mosques would be closed until further notice.'"

Several outlets picked up the story and added more quotes from Silva.

According to Arutz Sheva, Silva reportedly said the ban was necessary because Islam is "contradictory to the customs of Angola culture."

American conservative blog TheBlaze cited the report from India Today, much to the glee of some of their commenters.

But International Business Times questions if any of these claims are actually true.

The site reports two unidentified officials at the Angolan Embassy in Washington D.C. said they have not been made aware of any kind of Islam ban in the African nation. Other discrepancies the site outlines:

It says a Google image search revealed that the photograph many sites are using with this story to show the destruction of mosques is from 2008 when the Housing & Land Rights Network was illustrating the destruction of Bedouin homes in Israel. (Via OnIslam.net)

But, we also did a Google image search and actually found it used earlier than that, in an article on ISM-france.org, illustrating the demolition of a mosque and six houses in a Moroccan village on Dec. 29, 2003.

So this is obviously not an image showing mosques being destroyed in 2013. International Business Times also questions a few of the supposed quotes by Angolan officials.

OnIslam.net reported Nigeria’s Osun Defender newspaper quoted Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos as saying “This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country.”

But one of the officials IBT spoke to said the president has been out of the country for a week, so that report can’t be valid.

Plus, when we looked at the article this quote was allegedly taken from, we noticed two things:

    1. This quote is never even mentioned in the article, and ...

    2. It doesn’t look as though Osun Defender was the official source of the story anyway.

As you see, it says the report was from the blog Bare Naked Islam, which doesn’t exactly look to be a credible news source.

Plus, it seems to be just a compilation of other reports from these sources, which also never mention any quotes from the Angolan President. (Via Xibaaru, Algerie Patriotique)

So, there’s a lot of he said, she said in this story, and there isn’t really anything we can comfortably report to be true — besides how many people this ban would affect if it were actually true.

According to a report from 2008 (So, yes, even this data could be inaccurate by now.), there are 16 million people in the predominantly Christian nation, and approximately 80,000 to 90,000 Muslims in Angola. (Via U.S. Department of State)

A thorough search of the World Wide Web does not produce any official comment from Angola’s government on these reports.

The Angolan government says they have many religions in Angola and they don't ban religions.

In other words, you don't have a shred of evidence that Angola has not banned Islam, and is not demolishing mosques. Come back when you DO have it. And what's the big deal, anyway ? Islam is already banned in the US, by the Constitution, although we haven't been demolishing mosques (YET)

I've read barenakedIslam in the past. I don't recall any discrepancies with their reports. Do you know of any in the past ? If so, state them here, now.

Islam is banned in the USA by the Constitution?

kindly cease being dishonest about my Constitution.

Two authorised mosques in Luanda are still operating without a problem. I have not heard of any official decision to ban Islam or prohibit Muslim prayers in mosques.” Ahmed ould Taher told Al Jazeera.

There is not a shred of evidence that Angola has banned Islam- that is the point of the OP.

And of course Islam is protected in the U.S. by the U.S. Constitution, just like all religions are.

Don't get him started again, he spent like 50 pages of that last thread of his pulling stupidity out of his rear claiming islam was a ideology not a religion, and somehow it was banned by the supremacy clause, even thought you can't even ban an ideology in this country.

Yes, but watch the way the people who fell for the scam try and rationalize their foolishness, and pretend that the fraud is a fact.

This is where the right wing bubble is. They're so invested in having their prejudices validate that they will absolutely believe bigotry promoters like BarkNakedIslam over any legitimate news source.

Sure would be- fact is most Islamic nations are to varying degrees religiously intolerant.

Which is just another example of why defending our Constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion is so important.

    We are not like them.

It just shows we are better than them.

Should Muslims demand religious freedom and tolerance in the West? Yes.

Should Westerners defend religious freedom & tolerance, but at the same time point out religious intolerance and lack of freedom in the Muslim world? totally.

Is it hypocritical for Muslim immigrants in the West to demand religious freedom & tolerance whole ignoring the situation back home? That all depends on each individuals' intentions.

Oh but that's where you're wrong. Muslims in Angola claim that Angola is going around demolishing mosques. Got any proof that they're wrong ? Got a source ? Got a link ? Got anything ?

As for "not a shred of evidence that Angola has banned Islam" ? Guess again, reckless one. Here are bits of evidence. "SHREDS" highlighted in red. A speech by Angolan Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva has said so. She also said that in Angola, Islam has never specifically been legalized. President José Eduardo dos Santos, who has ruled the country since 1979, also made intimations about ending "Islamic influence." Weekly Moroccan newspaper La Nouvelle Tribune reported that the southern African country of Angola has banned Islam and Muslims, and has begun closing and dismantling mosques. Crua e Sliva also said that > “The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, their mosques would be closed until further notice.”

She asserted that the decision was the latest is a series of efforts to ban ‘illegal’ religious sects.

The minister added, in her answer to questions raised by the MPs of the 6th Commission of National Assembly, that the action will oblige the revision of law 2/04 of May 21, related to freedom of religious assembly, Angolan official news agency, Agencia Angola Press, reported.

The Angolan government would also be obliged to update the current national context as a way of fighting the rise of new religious congregation whose religious assemblies are contrary to “habits and customs to Angolan culture,” Silva added.

“All sects on the list published by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in the Angolan newspaper ‘Jornal de Angola’ are prohibited to conduct worship, so they should keep their doors closed," she was quoted by Cameroon Voice‏.

The anti-Islam comments were not the first by Angolan officials.

“This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country,” President José Eduardo dos Santos was quoted by Osun Defender newspaper on Sunday, November 24.

Last October, Muslims from the urban municipality of Viana, Luanda, attended the destruction of the minaret of their mosque Zengo.

The provincial governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, has also said on the airwaves of a local radio that "radical Muslims are not welcome in Angola and the Angolan government is not ready for the legalization of mosques."

He added that Muslims were not welcome in Angola and that the government would not legalize the presence of mosques in the country.

As for Islam, it's not a religion, and therefor e couldn't have any protection by the Constitution on religious grounds. Even if it was a religion, it could still be banned by virtue of its unconstitutional supremacy in violation of Article 6, Section 2. And it's also banned by US Codes 2384 & 2385.

Some of the new mosques have been thrown up by the immigrants and are pretty ramshackled.

You might pay attention to the details.
