If you look on many websites like D-Listed which cover celebrity screw-ups, you'll find a number of left-leaning posters who absolutely cannot stand how Lindsay, Chris Brown, or other celebrities get away with it. I think the amount of privilege the rich have when it comes to getting away with murder is hated equally by those on both sides of the political coin.

 

Fair enough, but IIRC there were some on the left who thought that Roman Pelonski should 'get a slap on the wrist' for allegedly raping an underage teen.

I think some just saw 'Texas' in the title and assumed he was a conservative - I think that if it was Michael Moore or a 'rich left winger' the outrage wouldn't be as strong, or at least there wouldn't be allegations of 'class warfare'

But I do agree that 'rich or influential people' probably have an easier time of getting off the hook than the average joe due to their connections. Personally I think the guy should have been fried - though I half expect he will slip up during his probation, since he didn't get any consequence - it'll feed his entitled mindset that he's immune to any responsibility for his actions

Well, getting back to Lindsay Lohan and Chris Brown again - that's EXACTLY what keeps happening and yet they mostly get out of it by doing rehab. Or they get locked up for a couple hours. What they need is the Robert Downey Jr. treatment where he did serious time in jail. But Lindsay and Chris - and now this kid - don't care about consequences. And why should they?
