Why girls can't marry at 15?

Yeah I hear a lot of American woman making the same complaint about their husbands

 

Do you support the right of 15 year old girls to marry??

 

Im 40 now and I would marry a 15 year old. Sue me.

 

Yea I ain't never heard of that similar complaint from Australian women, since they don't have a man to begin with.

You might wanna define "right". For you libs, a lot of privileges are "rights", for example, gov't housing, healthcare, etc.

 

Then you don't really belong to a court.

Then you have clearly not met too many 15 year-old girls. They would be dead last on my list!

So you think 15 yr old KIDS should be allowed to take on the responsibility of marriage? There's enuf divorces in this country w/o adding this insanity to it. Why don't we just let the kids be kids and let them grow up at their own pace?

And some parents do 'protect and care about their daughters'..... I had raised 2 and no, if one or both tho't they wanted to get married at 15 - it wouldn't have happened.

I never understood why people who like this argument. "If we let gays marry then we will have to let people marry their dogs"

I would good money you are probably 20 years old. When you are old enough to have teenage daughters you will realize how stupid this post really was.

We have all sorts of age restrictions in our country- and none of them are based upon competance or ability
16 years old to drive
18 years old to vote
18 years old to enlist
21 years old to drink
And of course there is the 'age of consent' which varies by state.

To a certain degree they are all arbitrary- but most of us can see the general logic in having some form of age restriction. For marriage- should it be 16? Or maybe 21 or maybe 18 or maybe 14?

It is all somewhat arbitrary- but just like 16 years old for having a driver's license, I think it makes sense to have a floor- a minimum standard for marriage.

The alternative would be worse.

 

Ever try to actually TALK to a 15-year-old? Some have brains, but they don't know how to use them. Forget teenagers. If you're going to flirt, flirt with their mothers.

 

Definition: a legal right under the law to marry as defined in state laws and regulations. Can't make it any easier for you then that.

 

Someone doesn't know the meaning of "consensual".

It may be illegal if only one of them is underaged, but if it's consensual, it's not rape. It's "sex with a minor" and various other names.
