No. If an adult has sex with a minor then it's statutory rape even if it's consensual for both parties..

You're right. That's why I have a real serious problem w/the National Sex offender Registry and what it's doing to many young men who are NOT sex offenders....

If an 18-20 yr old guy has a gf who's under 18 and they have consensual sex, it her parents find out and they dislike the guy, they can file charges against him and he's labeled a 'sex offender' on that nat'l registry....... and that has happened a couple times w/the girls parents doing that.

That young guy has that unfair label following him around like a bad stink for the rest of his life.......

I'd like to know who came up w/this despicable law.

The sex registry was pushed by busybody housewives who started a moral panic. Some countries have a close-in-age exemption but the USA just has youth courts to deal with trials and alternative sentencing, but they still go on a sex offender registry because it doesn't look at mitigating circumstances. This is how an 18-year old boy can have sex with his 15-year old girlfriend, permanently get put on a registry and end up being barred from going to university because he may encounter a minor. Politicians don't like soft-on-crime rhetoric, so it's really up to the people to push to get these sex offender registries repealed.

In other words, you don't know what "right" is.

I'm old enough to have one daughter in college but that's not the point.

The point is, legal marriage, no matter how you wish to glorify it, is a privilege, and sometimes, a stupid one.

Now think about those liberals who think they are better than their fellow mammals just because they cry with gay-marriage right activists.

I think what you meant was:"I think what you said is quite confusing" or "I'm confused by your post, even though most other members have no problem comprehending it at all"

15 year old girls don't go to college. Last I checked 15 year old girls are probably freshmen or sophmores in high school. How would you feel if your 15 year old daughter was rawdawging the teacher or some 20 or 30 year old guy.

Marriage is a right bub, at least between consenting adults in a heterosexual relationship. When you leave the confines of that, then it becomes illegal and some folks don't like that and are trying to change the laws, specifially with gay marriage and poligmany.

But in the end consenting legal aged heterosexual adults are not stopped from marriage. The governement is not turning people away.

You still haven't got my point.

Marriage is a right — correct in the sense that two consenting adults, heterosexual usually, can enter a civil union, a possibly limited time of relationship called "marriage" .

Marriage is a privilege — in that certain individuals met the arbitrary qualification set by the gov't (age limit being one of them) can obtain this privilege and in turn enjoys welfare and benefits that come along.

No one forbids gays from entering any civil union. What gay-marriage "right" activists are fighting for is privilege to enjoy those government benefits. Good luck in a mob-rule like America.
