"Ten thousand settlements" is a ridiculous number and an obvious error. And Wiki, although a lot better than I am, still isn't perfect. In 2006, in George Bush and Condoleezza Rice's highly acclaimed election between Hamas and Fatah, Hamas won a resounding victory in Gaza and also won a majority of parliamentary seats in the West Bank. Afterwards, the Hamas victors were blocked from taking their seats in parliament. They were able to forcibly take their seats in Gaza, but some of the Hamas election winners were arrested by the Israelis in the West Bank, and with the help of the US the victors were unable to be seated.
