The Washington Post? A blog? Really, that is your source? They are a left-wing organization and even says so at the top of the paper. Secondly, many other sites more credible and neutral than your source, show the opposite of what your source says. Even NBC says that 6 million policies have been canceled and an estimated 15 to 80 are expected to be canceled.

Your argument and credibility do not improve by insults or bigotry. Calling me and all others who know the same, "angry and hate filled far right America haters" does not help your argument. The nations productivity is down, we are experiencing doctor shortages, increased rates, and increased cancellations. Our economy is still in the tank and millions are still out of work. Over 100 million people are on federal welfare programs, and millions more are on unemployment benefits Unemployment is at 7% but closer to 15% because people just gave up on looking for jobs, and Progressives like you just sunk 1/3rd of the US economy into the tank. That is Unpatriotic, and that is the TRUTH.

If you don't like the Washington Post (the first newspaper in the USA to endorse Bush's imperialist war on Iraq) then perhaps you prefer the US News and World Report:

    http://www.usnews.com/opinion/artic...le-have-health-insurance-because-of-obamacare

The big number in the news this week was 1.1 million – the number of people who signed up for health insurance through Obamacare's federal insurance marketplace this year. This is an important figure, especially given the fact that it stood at little more than 100,000 at the end of November.

Nevertheless, that 1.1 million figure dramatically understates what the Affordable Care Act has already accomplished. The number we should be talking about is at least 9 million and could be 14 million people who are currently getting coverage under the law.

How many people are currently covered through the law? Start with the 1.1 million who have gotten care through the federal website. If you layer on the number of enrollees who have gotten coverage through state-run exchanges that number tops 2.1 million, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius announced Tuesday. Then throw in the 3.9 million people who have gotten health coverage under Obamacare's Medicaid expansion. Oh and don't forget about the young adults under 26 who are still covered by their parents' health insurance plans thanks to the Affordable Care Act. A year-and-a-half ago, the Department of Health and Human Services put the number at 3.1 million but an August study by the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that focuses on health policy research, estimated that the figure had reached 7.8 million. Total those numbers and you get a minimum of 9 million Americans covered through Obamacare and a maximum of nearly 14 million.

Good to know that more Americans are covered. This notwithstanding all the anger and rage it causes the right wing because they are so intent on having more Americans needlessly die due to lack of insurance.

Patriot = pro USA who wants to see all Americans enjoy a better & healthier life

Anyone who wants to have Americans die for lack of healthcare is unpatriotic.

"Defense is Constitutional. Whether or not any specific war is wise or not is hard to tell at the time.
Clearly taking money from me to give to you is unconstitutional. And more people are catching on."

Did you expect that the constitution would list the authorized buildings instead of authorize activities?

I would like to help you overcome this learning disability. How can I help?

Defense. Hmmm. We are authorized a Navy. Navies project power. Defense is one of the few legitimate Federal government powers. We can argue, and should, over every single use of military power abroad. State department power is similarly a Federal government responsibility. We should also argue over every treaty and use of state department power projection abroad. Either way they are Constitutional. Taking money from me to give to you is not.

Ire, I have never said that taxes are unconstitutional.

I have said that coercing me to pay taxes to pay for programs with no constitutional basis are theft. Of course they are. But I am still coerced. I can lose my job. I can lose my property. I can be put in jail. I can be killed by an evil state. I have never, not even once, said taxes are unconstitutional.

We need to wage and win the Article V fight and put an end to liberalism's wet dreams.

Not quite. Congress can collect taxes to pay the debts and to provide for the defense and general welfare. That is all. Debts. Defense, those enumerated powers pertaining to defense, and the general welfare, all non-defense enumerated articles of 1 section 8.

This is a lie. See above.

Mr. Truth is not knowledgeable of the health care system, how medicare and Medicaid effect the cost of providing health care and more importantly he has no idea about the Private Health Insurance market and ways to bring down the cost of premiums through private health insurance companies or how to lower the Federal Governments Cost of providing care to those on Medicare or how States can lower the cost of providing Medicaid insurance to those that are unemployed or earn to little to afford private coverage.

If he did, he would realize that the Exchanges are only going to increase the premium cost for individuals who don't qualify for Medicare or Medicaid; regardless of whether they qualify for premium assistance for policies that will still have unaffordable deductibles and out of pocket expenses both for individuals/families and small business health insurance. And, the large Corporations will do what ever they legal can to get around paying for their current employees health insurance as it will cost them Millions+ additional dollars and the policies insurance offer will have such high deductibles that paying the premiums will virtually be a worthless benefit to their employees, thus many of them will reduce employee hours below full-time and possibly increase their hourly wages by the amount they save in premium payments(if they value the employee) and if they do not do this the employee will be thrown to the wolves(the exchanges) which may provide an affordable monthly premium but the yearly deductible and out of pocket will be so high it will make it more cost effective for them to go without insurance, pay the "tax"(really a penalty) and save what they would have paid in monthly premiums in a Health Insurance savings plan.( oh yes, PPACA reduced the amount you can to contribute to such plans). If you are not in bad health or young you are better off putting money in an IRA and should you need it for health care simply pay your 10% penalty for early withdrawal and use the money to pay for health care above and beyond what you can afford.

I have small group health insurance, had two minor heart attacks, admitted through the ER and with inpatient stays of 5 and 3 days. I still didn't meet my annual deductible. The deductible is applied differently for hospital care, emergency room care, out-patient care(visits, tests, surgery) and doctors office visits.

If I and my husband eventually have to purchase insurance through the exchange, based on what we were quoted by the federal exchange website, the cheapest premium will be $12,000.00/year with a $12,000 annual deductible(twice as much as our current policy and a high out of pocket/yr. No adult dental care, but pediatric dental care(we have no young children), Maternity care(I am in menopause therefore will not be having more children) which is one of the highest costs increasing annual premiums, paying higher costs for benefits we will NEVER need.

If this becomes our only option we will pay the "not tax") and hope we can afford to pay for all care out of pocket and if we need emergency care, we will pay what we can afford to pay the hospital monthly. That is more than most uninsured do now. We will be seeing an increase in the number of uninsured and an increase in emergency room visits plus an increase in the number of doctors and hospitals who will not be on Insurance Plans and who you therefore will have to pay cash to see or receive treatment from. In addition, 1000's of doctors, clinics, hospitals will be forced to stop accepting Medicare and Medicaid as they will be seeing less patients who have private insurance, due to limited access through the policies offered through the exchanges.

Mr. Truth and hundreds of thousands like him just don't get it. But, they soon will, especially when PPACA kicks in for Small Business Group Health Insurance.

As far as PPACA giving small business "credits" to help them pay for insurance and encourage them to do so; many small businesses already paid 100% of their employees health insurance premiums and the IRS allows 100% of the cost as a business expense. No matter what they paid toward premiums for their employees, it has been deductible as a business expense.

But now, many of these small businesses will be forced to "throw their employees" to the exchanges, they won't owe the "tax, penalty" if they employ less than 25 employees. The losers will be their employees, unfortunately. But, it will simply be unaffordable. Instead of offering small business employers will less than 25 employees the same "premium assistance", "credit", offered individuals/families; they chose to force employers to stop offering health insurance benefits.

It was the federal government who after WW2 begged employers to offer heath insurance as a benefit. It has worked fairly well up until the PPACA. Now it will be up to tax payers for the most part, Federal Government and States to offer insurance. They haven't done a very good job of managing the Medicare program and I guarantee they will do even worse when it comes to private health insurance.

Plus, the PPACA does nothing to lower the "cost" of providing health care. Only what will be paid to the Providers of health care. Their cost to provide the care will continue to go up due to more government regulations that are costly to comply with and the normal rise in the cost to do business. At some point they won't be able to be profitable of earn the annual salary equal to their education, training and experience. Lawyers and accountants can charge any fee they want for their services, often 100's of dollars per hour or more. The same should hold true for doctors, yet they cannot when it comes to Medicare and Medicaid patients. They must accept the sub-standard reimbursements if they want to care for these patients.

see, this is where you are completely addled. What you're describing is socialism/nationalism.
Just go ahead and admit it, you are so socialistic, you cannot define what patriotism really is.....and your definition is merely some weak-assed opinion.
sacrificing 50 million plus to feed you is hardly patriotism

Yeah we can have a Navy to defend our shores. Now show me where in the Constitution is it written that it exists to protect government such as Israel or Vietnam. Good luck in your search.

Delusionals like you need to understand that all this warmongering and profiteering for the rich is not in our interests and is not authorized by the Constitution nor envisioned by our Founding Fathers. But I repeat myself.

    Socialism?

hmmm - in other words you admit that when taxpayers finance Fortune 500 companies to deduct operating costs for health insurance which are ultimately subsidized by taxpayers, that, too, is SOCIALISM. Correct?

When Republicans like Reagan get their health care paid for by taxpayers, that's SOCIALISM, correct?

When American taxpayers financed Europe's universal health care through the Marshall Plan, that was SOCIALISM, correct?

When American taxpayers finance Israel's health care, that's SOCIALISM, correct?

Using your "logic", we have been unpatriotic because we enabled half a billion people in Europe to have universal health. Further, using your "logic" those who support Bush's to stupid wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in which he imposed universal health care in their constitutions and which are paid for by American taxpayers are also unpatriotic. CORRECT ???

Addle brained right wingers never address these questions when I pose them. Let's see whether you have the guts and principle to do so now.

Whether or not you believe that a given course of defense is appropriate or wise is not the question. Defense is Constitutional. Taking wealth from me to give to another is not Constitutional. It is theft. It is immoral. It is contemptible. It is leftist. It is Progressive. It is socialist. It is Marxist.

It sounds like you agree with me that it is time for a Constitutional Amendment preventing the government from taxing us at a rate no greater than 15% no matter how the money is earned. Then we can get the government completely out of health care. Once that happens who cares if companies offer health care insurance as part of an employee compensation package?

John Kerry and Hillary Clinton also supported it, just for your information. Bush is hardly a true conservative, he has a lot in common with Barack Obama because they are both Progressives.

Kathleen Sebelius cant even keep her head above the lies she has told and the epic failure of the implementation of the law. Considering most of those enrolled are in the Medicaid program, let us just realize that Medicaid will collapse under its own weight, and that money is going to come from young people who do not have little money to spare as it is. Private companies offered plans to allow parents children on their plans before the law was mandated so that was not needed anyway. As far as the 9 million to 14 million number, Most of those people will be on medicaid and living off the system. The people were told that "If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan. Period." That was a lie of epic proportions. This law is crippling small businesses and middle class families left and right, the people who wrote the law predicted it to be a "train wreck" and so far, that is true. It will collapse and then a single payer system will most likely be implemented which has never been effective in any nation.

We right-wingers are intent on making sure that more people are not in poverty! Millions of people have enrolled for food stamps under this president, now this law is taking away the coverage of over 6 million Americans and more on the way. WE WANT PEOPLE TO PROSPER! You call for more poverty and economic decay!

    Your definition is false.

US Patriot: One who believes in freedom for its nation and its people, and that all have the OPPORTUNITY to prosper. One who believes that the individual has a choice in what they do in life, who believes that determination and self reliance are the key to happiness in America! One who knows the good and the bad of his nation's past, learns from it, and moves forward in the course of freedom and opportunity! One who loves their nation for what it stands for and who it stands for, and believes that mankind's freedom is the most noble cause for action! One who is willing to give blood on foreign soil out of love for their nation and their brothers in arms! One that knows the face of tyranny from the books of history and their own reality! One who looks into the eyes of tyranny, hate, and aggression and rises above them! One who looks at their fellow American as their equal.

This mandate prevents our choice in our own health decisions, and if you are not in the system, you are punished for it. That is tyranny, that is infringement, that is unpatriotic, that is wrong.! Do not hide your true intentions behind insults! You see others with different beliefs as beneath you, that is unpatriotic! You seek to make conservatives as villains, instead of having a rational debate, that is unpatriotic! You seek to have everyone dependent on the Government, that is unpatriotic! Do not confuse Socialism for Patriotism!

Why would the Tea Party be afraid of Obama Care being successful? The Tea Party was only one faction of American Voters that were against this law. If any of us that were against this law believed it could even remotely be successful in lower the costs to provide medical care and private health insurance premiums and deductibles, we would have been all for it. But we didn't believe it and it is becoming more clear that we were right to question what the Administration and Democrats were telling us.

I was never afraid it would be successful. After 37 years in Health Care Administration I was simply certain it would fail to lower the cost to deliver health care and certainly would increase our premiums and deductibles, fail to lower the number of uninsured emergency room visits, reduce the number of hospitals and providers willing to treat medicare/Medicaid patients and force many physicians/surgeons into early retirement. While the cost to provide services remains the same, the amount hospitals and providers are paid has steadily decreased since the mid 1990's with the onset of HMO'S, PPO'S, Managed Care and costly Government regulations and higher costs to file and collect payment from Medicare and Medicaid.

With a degree in Health Information Management I predicted that the mandated Electronic Health Care Record system would be costly to providers while opening up patient health care information to misuse by the Federal Government and impacting security of patients intimate health information. The PPACA does not allow patients to "opt-out" of the electronic record system. That is simply wrong and should be a constitutional right when paying for Private Health Insurance. There are no laws regulating the Governments use of your information or retribution to you if they fail to protect your information. But under ACA the Government can prosecute a Provider if your information is "hacked". How hypocritical this law is. You lose your rights. You can not chose to make your record confedential.

OK. If that's the case, where are your demands that corporate welfare be ended once and for all?

How about ending the corporate deduction for medical insurance costs on their 1120 tax forms?

Subsidies to rich farmers like Michelle Bachmann?

Ending the welfare military industrial complex?

Ending welfare to the state of Israel?

Allowing corporate welfare elites to shelter TRILLIONS overseas in tax free accounts???

I don't see any right winger making these demands on this forum. Why if you are so principled???

When the Government gets out of Economics, then that will help it.
The president is picking and choosing who follows the mandate and who is free from it. Many corporations, unions and political associates are not mandated like the rest of us because they are political allies.
Despite Farming decline in this nation, I think that small farmers should have some subsidies, but these should only be used when needed.
Google's involvement with the US government is concerning because they are going into data mining. Google just bought NEST and now they can track the temperature in our homes. They are working with the government in robotics. There is one example.
Israel is an ally to the United States, if that is your argument, should we not help the UK? Germany?Japan? Egypt is receiving more aid than Israel and they have Terrorists and are unstable. Pakistan was harboring Osama Bin Laden and we gave them Billions in aid.
My stance is not for the elites, I am against them. This President has made the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. He is destroying the middle class.

You do now. I want people to prosper and be free. This law will put people in a system that will infringe the right for people to make economic choices about their healthcare.

    ACA Update

Kids being forced into Medicaid update.
Families earning less than 200% to as much as 400% of poverty level depending on the state whos parents qualify for subsidies will be forced to have there kids on Medicaid ..

Well I had a nice talk with our state senator’s office today. (Mike Johanns ). They did seem to be a little concerned that this could potentially be a problem. I was informed that they were not capable of calling the state DHHS but could refer individual cases to someone that works for the senator to help anyone having problems with a government agency. I was also informed that it was there understanding that people that fell into this income bracket were not forced to have Medicaid. The parents could buy a plan outside the exchange on their kids if they wanted to. I agreed they were correct but I asked a few follow up question. Well if the parents are making $48,000 a year and that places the family at 195% of poverty level and the parents qualify for a $200 monthly subsidy leaving there monthly shared cost for the plan at $207 a month. The parents then have the choice for the kids of Medicaid or buying an ACA compliant plan on the open market without subsidies. The child only ACA compliant plan for the two kids runs around $200 a month. So the family would be paying a total of $407 a month for the two plans. Now the point of the ACA was to get low income families tax credits to help pay insurance premiums. The ACA law caps insurance premiums of someone making 200% of poverty level at 6% of income. $48,000 a year x 6%= $2880. So my question is how come the only choice these families have is to pay twice as much for coverage as the law allows or place there kids into the Medicaid system? Oh and by the way the information on the kids is still not being passed from the marketplace to the states. Their response was I can see your point we will investigate that further and if you have any more problems please let us know. I assume that means stop confusing us and our phone!

    ACA update
Well a lot has happened over the last few weeks. Unfortunately the rules keep changing despite what the law says.

There is one particular problem that recently developed and has not been talked about in the media.

The Majority of Children under the age of 18 whose parents apply for advanced tax credits with the ACA will be forced to have Medicaid as there health plan and will not be allowed to enroll in the marketplace.

    ACA law
SEC. 1331 ø42 U.S.C. 18051¿. STATE FLEXIBILITY TO ESTABLISH BASIC
HEALTH PROGRAMS FOR LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS NOT
    ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAID.

The gravity of the problem depends on the state you live in so I will explain the differences in Nebraska and Iowa laws as they pertain to the ACA
    .
Nebraska is expanding the Children’s health insurance plan or more commonly known as SCHIP to include any child under the age of 18 and whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level.

This expansion is took place on 1/1/2014 and will affect anyone applying for tax credits to help pay their insurance costs. I talked with Nebraska’s HHS office today and they informed me that they are not able to see any of the applications anyone has submitted through the healthcare.gov website and they will not be able to see them because the system has not been built yet.

They recommended filling out old paper applications and submitting them directly to the insurance agent or the HHS office.

Let’s look at how the law will affect a typical couple.
    28yr old male
    27 yr. old female
    5 yr. old son
    1 yr. old daughter.

Father has a modified adjusted gross income of $28,000 and the mother is self-employed and has a net income of $18,000

Combined this couple has a Modified Adjusted Gross annual income of $46,000

The couples combined income puts them at 195% of the federal poverty level and entitled to advance tax credits under the ACA.

However because the couple is under the 200% of the federal poverty level the state of Nebraska is forced to offer the Children’s Medicaid program.

Because the children qualify for the expanded SCHIP plan they are not entitled to tax credits and cannot apply for coverage through the marketplace.

Anyone that has applied for healthcare through the marketplace with incomes that qualify there children for SCHIP needs to contact there state HHS to make sure your kids are covered.

Iowa is much worse and will affect many more.

The state of Iowa Hawkeye plan was expanded last year to include children under the age of 18 whose family income is less than 300% of the federal poverty level.

Using the same couple in the Nebraska example the family could earn up to $70,000 a year and the children will still be forced into the Medicaid program.

The Medicaid offices are not able to see the applications and if you are expecting coverage to start you need to verify the state has your information .

Well the two countries that we invaded, we now have obligations. Otherwise, yes I agree. We sent money to Japan after WW2, and it was the right thing to do. Now we don't, because we fulfilled our obligations. Soon, Iraq and Afghanistan will be the same.

Good to see you answer one or two points in a manner that conservatives should be doing. Too bad the majority of these delusionals do not practice what they preach and apply their principles in a consistent manner.

Our Founding Fathers never intended to give welfare to the rich nor to foreign governments. Ending these things and advancing the interests of the common wealth is what they sought. But today's world is a lot different from their world and changes need to be made that reasonably comply with their principles.

Today you speak of medical "choices". But what choices do the poor have? Should they be allowed to just die as did the 45,000 every year as determined by the Harvard study and as affirmed by the medical profession? If poor farmers deserve government aid, then why don't the poor who cannot afford medical insurance get similar aid?

The president is not doing anything that harms the middle class. On the contrary, corporate profits are at their highest in history. And he has attempted to end or alter Reaganomics with its fake "trickle down" theory have been thwarted by the Republican Congress. Therefore, it is Republicans who have caused harm to the middle class.

ACA is good and it is working. Now let's have more reform, not less.
