Dumbing Down America: NYC Schools Cancel Gifted Program for Lack of Diversity

You really can't make this stuff up anymore. NYC Public Schools has decided to cancel a popular elementary school gifted program due to a 'lack of diversity' (code phrase for too many Whites and Asians):

Does anyone think we can continue to be competitive in the world with this kind of nonsense? Do you think the Chinese are laughing their arses off at such nonsense? I look forward to my 'progressive' brothers and sisters' excuses and explanations as to why this is a good thing for the country.........

I remember when I was part of the gifted program in elementary school. It was great for getting out of regular class where all the liberal kids were (stoners, welfare kids, jocks, etc.) and got to hang out with all the intellectual kids for half a day, discussing how evolution worked in God's universe, intelligent design, etc.

Nowadays, apparently a lack of diversity = not enough black kids.

 

So all of the potential little Einsteins are stuck in a class that has no challenges and motivation b/c there's not enuf kids of other races in same classroom.... now that's brilliant liberal thinking.

 

What an appalling decision. Brain drain is real, and falling behind in maths and engineering is not a good idea.

I wonder how the parents can explain this? Why can't I take this class? Well sorry kid, but they weren't happy about the skin color of the prospective students.

I was one of the gifted kids. We knew everything.

When you cater to the lowest common denominator, nothing good ever comes from it. First its giving awards to every kid just for participation. Then its removing keeping scores in contests. Then its not allowing anyone to win at all. Now, the brilliant minds of Liberals want to prevent the smart kids from being smarter then the dumb kids, because that's not fair either. Certainly makes a case for private schooling doesn't it? Luckily where I live, kids are still broken up in classes where most are at the same skill level. High achievers vs normal vs those who need help, essentially. Structurally it makes sense. Although there are studies that kids below the curve will try harder when put up against kids who are smarter then them, so it helps. At the same time, others will just give up if they can't keep up. Depends on the kid and the parents.

But ELIMINATING programs that help our best be the BEST. Its the dumbest thing I ever heard. Help out those who need help, but for G-ds sake don't punish the kids who we'll be relying on to make the country work when we're old and NEED them. Sheesh.

Sounds reasonable to me. All students face a challenging curriculum? I do not understand why that is an issue.

 

Gifted programs are a poor use of resources anyway.

I think the claim that bleeding heart libs are dumbing down the schools is proven here.

By their own words the libs wanted to see minority students equally represented in the results.

But blacks and Hispanics were not keeping up so the gifted students were too white.

Libs want all Americans to be equally dumb.

 

What the what!? Too many whites and East Asian students is no reason to cancel the gifted program. The solution would be to simply stick enough little thugs in the program to meet diversity requirements. If the thugs can't meet the standards, just pass them anyway -- they'd never know the difference.

I think what we have here is a bunch of white bigots trying to use this as a chance to denigrate blacks and call others racists in order to justify their own bigotry.

 

So you believe that every human has the potential to be Einstein? Do you not understand that there is a significant difference in IQ between the races? Northern Asians score slightly ahead of Whites.........with blacks coming in significantly lower. The average IQ in sub-Saharan Africa hovers around room temperature or lower. If we want mankind to move forward we must select out best and brightest to be singled out and challenged regardless of the demographic results and how that makes us 'feel'
