What Has Happened To The African-Americans?

Having been around for three-quarters of a century I have noticed a change in the reputation of our black citizens. During the latter part of the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century blacks had a general reputation of being hard working, honest, caring, law-abiding, family oriented, religious, polite and friendly. How would you describe their general reputation today?

 

Well .....I would not agree regarding to all of the attributes you attribute to them in past times...but no doubt there has been a huge change in the black communities as a whole....this transformation began during and after WWII when so many blacks migrated north and became radicalized.

Then it was further exacerbated by LBJ and all of the social/welfare programs he initiated essentially creating a welfare class...huge numbers of people who retired from the work force...though they were phsically capable of work...they learned to game the system and essentially became dependent on the government to take care of them.

The black family structure broke down because young black women did not need a husband to support them any longer...they could depend on the government for that....thus the situation today where most black children have no father in the family...many of them do not even know who their father is...in many cases even the mother does not know who the father was.

These children are brought up with little supervision....they roam the streets..get involved in gangs and develop the all too recognized personna of the black thug culture....these are the ones who comitt most of the crimes now associated with the black community and the ones who have promoted the drug culture.

This pathic situation has been allowed to develop because politicians have bought into and promoted the politically correct ideology of black victimhood....which most know by now is ridiculous...all one has to do to see who the perps and victims are is to tune in to your local news report every night...which consists mainly of the crimes perpetrated that day by the so called african americans....although the media will not release the race of the perps...it is easily figured out by most and the media incongruously will release the photos of the perps...how this contradictory policy developed is laughable.....just goes to show the level of idiocy involved in political correctness.

You (ElDiablo) bring excellent points to the discussion. Most of your points are ignored by the media and the black leaders but if the societal mis-behavior is to be corrected it must be discussed and condemned by all. The attributes I mentioned in my OP were my recollections of my growing up years in the south. Although it was a segregated time I never personally saw a well behaved black mistreated, quite the contrary, as most whites were kind to them and the blacks reciprocated. I'm sadden today when I see the present black culture. In my opinion they were better off 75 years ago.

 

Among my grandparents (all southerners) based on stories they handed down to me. If they needed help on a job they would seek a black man, if they need children cared for they would seek a black lady, If they went by a church on Sunday the church was filled with black families who spent the entire day there. The black schools were filled with well dressed and well behaved black children. Although the black neighborhood was humble in material things, it was clean and self-policed.

 

This is exactly the problems with the Black community and it is also hitting the White community, but to a smaller degree.

The incarceration rate is just about the same rate as Black women having children raised without a father.

Not to a smaller degree at all. Just later. It hit blacks harder because they were poor thanks to unions and Jim Crowe when LBJs war on the poor hit.

 

I believe that welfare dependency has made blacks lazier - and kids growing up on welfare are more likely to believe this is the norm, and not aspire to anything better

Stop making and responding to these threads. They have ignorance, flamebait, and racial undertones all over them. Your responses just confirm why the rest of the developed world considers you RACIST.

No doubt...........but what sustains them and enable themis the idocy of the liberal dogma...aka the poor blacks are victims...they are not to blame...they are poor.....their great,great,great grandaddys were slave. BTW tooooooooo many republicans also buy into that bull(*)(*)(*)(*)e.

 

Many are aware of the negro teen phenomenon called 'wilding' it has been going on for several years...though lately the knockout game seems more popular amongst the thugs.

Irregardless......a few days ago there was a notorious wilding event at the Florida State Fair in Tampa....the media reported it as just a bunch of teens...though they had video..and presented video...it was so blurred and fast you could barely make out they were all black...you had to really look close to see it.

The mob of black teens stampeded through the fair grounds trampling people, beating up white girls, stealing merchandise, knocking down the stands of vendors etc.etc. organized mayhem.

It was outrageous and to add insult to injury....these black teens had been given free passes to the fair....eventually the police arrived and got the situation under control...though no arrests were made...the police merely escorted the black teens out of the fair.

Then one of the black teens attempted to run across I-4 and was hit by a car and killed. The parents attempted to create a big stir and set the stage for a lawsuit against the police...accusing them of discrimination and not calling them when their son was kicked out of the fair....since there were over a 100 black kids kicked out...the police hardly had time to call everyones parents...not to mention the fact that even some of the police were attacked.

The media of course played along with the grief-stricken parents crying crocodile tears for the benefit of television....trying to make a trayvon like saint out of their thuggish wanna be gangsta kid.

Apparantly though...the media got a lot of negative feedback on their so called 'coverage' of this outrageous incident....the police and the media set up a community event and invited some black community leaders to have a sitdown with the police...a couple of black pastors did admit the black community had a problem with their 'children' and something should be done about it....even the media finally identified the perps as African-Americans ....but most of the air time was given to black mammas crying about how the police target their children.

This and similar sort of black teen outrage has occurred at several state fairs across the nation...it has gotten so bad that many refuse to attend.

 

Its hard to fix a problem when the act of talking about the problem gets one labeled as a racist or a 'Tom'.

 

The problem is you conservatives spend every other thread analyzing the "deficiencies" of black people and wonder why people call you racist.

It's nice of you to analyze conservatives. I guess that's OK. Rather than attack the people on the thread why not join in the conversation in a meaningful way. Maybe you got a few good points to contribute. We're trying to have a dialog here, not attacking opinions. What is it about that that you don't understand?

I already contributed. Black American is the term I most prefer. My friend is Nigerian he considers himself African-American to distinguish himself from American born blacks.

 

Why not just American? Could it be you are black and have a chip on your shoulder? I bear you no ill will and will call you what ever you prefer. Just here looking for a conversation on the subject with -- anyone.

 

Maybe you are just coinfused.....most conservatives are not concerned with what you call anyone.

BTW Racism is not illegal and authentic racism is merely a normal human condition...though some misguided souls would starve their own to feed others in order to prove what? They are not racist...they care more about other societies and cultures than they do our own?

Irregardless.....the fact is we have a huge problem with a minority that composes approx. 12% of our total population. That is why the most popular threads on this and just about every other political board are those dealing with the racial situation even though most boards being very politically correct do their best to dissuade such discussion to the point of often making it taboo to do so in any realistic manner.

When those that do talk in facts like Bill Cosby, most blacks ignore him or call him an Uncle Tom. Whites who call him crazy are even worse. It seems statistics are racist whenever they cite something negative about black people. Instead of learning from it, they ignore it hoping it will go away. It NEVER goes away. It just festers like cancer. The term African American in itself is an insult to anyone intelligent. I know only 1 African American personally. He came over from south Africa in the 80s and he's very WHITE. Far more African than 95% of black people living in the US. Every other black person I know and work with has about as much a connection with the African Continent as I do to Germany and Poland. Making that stupid term go away would be a good first step in wiping away all the idiocy that has infected the black community. Its quite sad.
