Anybody who actually understands genetics will be quick to point out that genes interact with the environment, and so the false dichotomy of "nature vs. nurture" is absurd. The simple truth is that sexuality is the result of a complex interplay of genes, environment, hormones and culture, that all human beings can measure their sexuality on a continuum, rather than in rigidly defined spheres of sexuality, and that almost nobody makes "the choice" over who they are attracted too. Nobody looks at a picture and decides "I'm going to become aroused." It just happens. I could go back and have you read countless posts but since you are late to the party, and trying to play that spin that others have tried, I will humor you as well with an answer I was raised in a heterosexual family my father did all the traditional masculine things (coach baseball, in a bowling league, loved cars, hung around with the guys, played cards etc etc) my mom did the traditional feminine things: went to the salon each week, shopped all the time, primped, yacked on the phone, coffee with the ladies etc my sister did girly things my brothers did boy things the parents of my friends were heterosexuals older kids paired off as boy/girl advertising showed boy/girl TV showed boy/girl Not my dad, my brothers or any of my friends dads or my uncles were girly men. I was not exposed to any girly-man. All around me was boy/girl and I was not a momma's boy. It never occurred to me that a penis should go into the anus of another male. So, I was conditioned to go after girls. I am confident that if I had some girly-men, or homosexuals around me, or was exposed to homosexual sex then I would have known that there were choices. If my upbringing was the complete reverse, and I saw boy/boy everywhere I went, then it would never occur to me to go to girls. I would have jumped into the gay pool with everyone else.
