Has there ever been a movie made about slavery that hasn't won an academy award? Here's another sure fire academy award winner, make a movie about gays adopting and being better parents than the straight couple next door.

Huh? Only the liars on the left are saying he did.

He didn't... as he clearly stated.

Nor did he say it was good or bad.

(There is an article attached to the OP... be the first lefty to actually read the thing) ;)

No that is why I am asking. I am not going to judge a film in either direction that I have not seen.

Why was it hard to watch? Brutal? or something else?

Of course because Ellen was making fun of republicans and attempting to arouse a response from democrats, and Rush was making fun of democrats and arousing a response from republicans.

Funny how neither side realizes that they are being played and used to further the rich/elites divide and conquer scheme.

It had some pretty intense scenes, the filming and direction was good, but nothing spectacular, and although the acting was superior, the story was a little like a terrible accident. You didn't want to watch but were compelled to do so.

Limbuagh is a clown, no different from Sharpton, or Hannity, or Jackson. The only thing he does well is to attract attention to himself for his own enrichment, as is evidenced by (currently) 18 pages of this thread. That anyone really cares what any of these clowns think is what has me bamboozled.

By the way, wasn't it Jesse Jackson that originally labeled our president '...the magic negro' ?

The same people who would have a near religious experience watching this movie are the same who would have a religious experience if they ever made a movie against Ronald Reagan or any of the other "right wing" figures in history. This is a movie made by left-wing people, given awards by a left-wing organization by a left-wing presenter.

    Nice speculation...

How is it so hard to accept that this was a great movie?

Because the politically correct nature of the subject material made it a shoo-in for Hollywood acclaim, no matter how good or bad it may actually be. It's a great way for a no-name to make a name for himself. I doubt a single person in this forum ever even heard of Steve McQueen (the director, not the actor) prior to this movie.

Ellen said it best, "if this doesn't win, you're all racist". For this joke to work, there has to be truth in it. If it was a completely ludicrous concept nobody would have laughed.

Considering that he was predominantly a short film director prior to this, you might be right...

That doesn't take anything away from the quality of the movie though...

    Everybody has a first time...

    His happened to be extraordinary...

Or, people tend to laugh at completely ludicrous things...

But, whatever helps you justify this nonsensical argument in your own head...

The mental pretzeling required to make someone think that Hollywood would not celebrate an anti-white piece of liberal propaganda is not worth the effort. I think I'm comfortable with my correct viewpoint.

You're demonstrating your ignorance. According to IMDB, his first feature length film was "Hunger" which I must admit I've never heard of, but I do own a Blu-ray of his next feature length film, a good-but-not-great NC-17 movie about a guy with a sex addiction, starring Michael Fassbender (who is also in 12 Years A Slave so they obviously worked well together).
It's not ludicrous to anyone intelligent and informed on the matter. The joke was perfectly appropriate and based in reality. I can't help but think of Denzel Washington who pretty much called everyone in Hollywood racist because he had never won an Academy Award as a lead actor (and no black man had in something like 30 years). Finally they gave him one he didn't deserve to shut him up.

What do you consider Jon Stewart and Bill Maher? He is an ENTERTAINER which includes comedy and satire, always gas beeb. Not surprised the left doesn't and swallows garbage posted about him. And no I don't listen to him hardly at all, haven't since there are more options available. The fact is the left has nothing to match his ability to analyze politics and comment on them in an intriguing way despite years of trying so all you can do is engage in your bloviating about him and the hate speech as if it refutes anything he says.

The fact remains he and Degeneres said the same thing and the attacks on him and not on her BLARING hypocrisy.

    Why is that so sinister?

It's just a regional thing. The movie industry is headquartered in Holywood for Chrissakes.

If this were the country music awards you would find songs written by christian conseratives, and awarded by conservative industry fat cats from Nashville by conservatives, and there is nothing wrong with that.

You guys have that God movie that just came out to be proud of, and it made $28 million the first weekend.

And Brewsky...you really need to move to Alabama or something
