Ah, I see, a classic case of the Gallus Americanus, found free range on the far left in the USA. Most noted for their demand that other folk pay for their programs, both with money and blood.

Sorry, I was in panama a week before we got rid of 'old pineapple face' to the horror of the American left....

It's too late to fix Obama.

He's a weak president that Putin can run over and we will just have to live with that for the rest of his term.

We can thank John Kerry for coming to the rescue In President Red Line's Syria debacle. Kerry was the front man for the East Coast Liberal big-money boys who run the country now, and he got together with Sergei Lavrov in Switzerland and buried it. Now, the Syrians can kill each other happily ever after....

The whole Ukraine/Crimea thing is even easier to deal with. Just blow around about "sanctions", go on vacation, wait for time to pass, and let these people have their divorce and go their separate ways. Once again, it proves best to just keep Obama out on golf courses (like he is in the Florida Keys this weekend), and as far away from microphones as possible. They use Obama as a handpuppet to entertain the cattle because he isn't good for anything else....

Who would do what? Force Russia to back down? We already ran that experiment under President Bush. Like him or hate him, he was a president who wasn't afraid to utilize the military in forceful diplomacy and that certainly didn't stop Russia from going into Georgia. The popular notion that Russia had to balls to go into Ukraine because it specifically views President Obama as particularly weak doesn't really have any supporting evidence to back it.

The best what USA can do is just to ignore and stay away from foreign wars. This generation is fed up with Iraq and Afghanistan wars, both run on a credit card, you know. Another reason, we have a reason to believe that Maidan government is not quite legitimate one. Interesting pictures are shown here: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/its-ukraine-vs-russia-rival-protests-simferapol-n47746
Rival protests in Crimea. On pictures of Russian protesters you see a mixed crowd of civilians, men and women, a sample of local population. Pro-Ukrainian protesters are only middle age men, no women and there are relatively few of them showed up. J.F. Kennedy acted, because of direct threat to our security. Reagan did a lot of blunders, marines killed in Lebanon for nothing and American responded really weak to that, help to mujahidin in Afghanistan produced Taliban, arms for hostages deal and arming Saddam against Iran. Today's Russia is different, Cold War is behind, a new generation Russians have no interest in aggression or in spreading Communism.

This is beneficial to the world. Republicans are hawkish as long as their kids are safe from being drafted and sent to fight overseas. We need to restore draft and cut military spending.

Any crisis is a fodder for Republicans to trumpet war and blame Obama for "weakness". They are not responsible for serious decisions, they are involved only in congressional obstruction of any progress and run hate propaganda against "Obama care" . The worst Congress in American history wants "actions against Russia". Why we should listen to the least popular Congress in history? This is the new generation choice, not yours.

Are you paid by Koch Brothers? Members of Citizens United think this way, a typical piece of Republican propaganda. Your time is over.

"... makes one wonder if the current generation of Americans is not of the same caliber in terms of character compared to prior generations!"

    Taxcutter says:
Electing and re-electing a stupid charlatan like Hussein Obama makes that obvious.

if you knew what you were talking about you know that i disparage the kochs quite frequently

it makes it obvious how lame the gop is

    for example:

SARAH PALIN (3/3/2014): People are looking at Putin as one who wrestles bears and drills for oil. They look at our President as one who wears mom jeans and equivocates.

Putin is a Russian version of ideal president in eyes of Republicans. A strong man. I do not want to have one like him to be my president. Better to have one of us, well educated, humane and caring of the poor. Obama is not perfect, but he is a lot better as soon as he does not yield to pressure from conservatives.

So, Obama is an "ideal president"? He ignores the Constitution, rules unilaterally, ignores the law (as we saw when he broke the War Powers Act in 2011), and LIES through his ****ing teeth (Obamacare ring any bells?). The only difference between Obama and the "strong" man you fear is that Obama doesn't intimidate his opposition like a Hitler, or a Stalin used to. No. Instead, Obama threatens to cut the legs off of anyone who would dare to criticize his unlawful, illegal, and unconstitutional behavior with the mere fact that he's BLACK, and all his sycophants in Congress, and in the "news" media would scream "RACIST" at critics....

Oh, and maybe consider this... an "ideal president" would be one who dearly loves his country. Vladimir Putin loves his Mother Russia with all his heart. Research this if you doubt it. I see none of the same kind of feeling in Obama for all the values, the hard work, the ingenuity, and the sheer guts it took to make the United States the greatest nation in the world, and to defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Obama ignores or does his best to diminish those very values, and instead replaces them with a slimy, slop-ass Welfare State, with "wealth redistribution" as his top goal. Put simply, a man like Putin will kick Obama's ass every time he makes the mistake of sticking it out.... .:cynic: -- "But, but... isn't Putin afraid that somebody will call him a racist?!"

There are a few warmongering posters on this thread, I wonder if they or their family members wish to die for another irrelevant back water cause which could also put the safety of world peace in jeopardy? Cool and diplomatic heads need to be seen working on this issue and not foolish reactionaries, who in all probability will not be anywhere near any battlefield or conflict.

What was the Bush Admin's response to the Russian invasion of Georgia? Remember, we're talking about an admin full of chickenhawk neocons who have wet dreams about the US being the sole global military power and had already invaded 2 countries.

What was the Bush Admin's response?

Unlike some posters here, I don't think we need to fire a single shot. Take a page from History and do what Reagan did. Bankrupt them! The Russian Federation gets the VAST majority of it's cash from Oil and Gas, if we take that away from them, our economy booms, and their economy fails, just like during the 80's.

Your fundamental lack of understanding of the goal of the geo-political moves Russia is making is your shortcoming; not ours. Putin is precisely doing to this to re-wage a Cold War, and this time win it.

OMG- we actually agree on something. :)

IMO, the only options we have are economic sanctions, and we certainly can use those to great effect. Going to war with Russia is simply not an option.

BTW, Russia opposed the invasion of Iraq- what did they do? Nothing. The situation is the same with Crimea.

The left really doesn't want a reply. They just want to pretend
that Obama is doing everything possible.
