Pit-bulls may not be the most aggressive dogs, but they are by far the most dangerous aggressive dogs. You can look at the statistics and you will see, nearly all deaths by dog every year in the US are from Pits.

its funny how im seeing more stuff about the dog then the dog owner. anybody gonna do anything about him? yes pitbulls are unpredictable, but arent most dog breeds!? one time my moms friend came strolling up the steps to talk to us on the porch, and my dog all of a sudden started growling. thank goodness we had her collar cuz she jumped up right after! but it was her instincts i suppose. but still, i think maybe cities can make regulations like making sure you have the appropriate yards for pitbull owner? high fences all that crap?

P.S: those sayin exterminate the breed permanently, need to go back to sh*thole they came from. i hate people who use news like this as a reason to say stupid sh*t. i can give you a whole lot of examples of violent humans, but you dont see me sayin 'let's play hitler!'

We agree on something! I too have been attacked by a dog, but never by a human, unless I was on the job.

There are a few solutions that would work. One would require large breed dogs to have liability insurance and post a surety bond. AND OR make the owner criminality & legally responsible for their mutts actions. Meaning: If a large breed dog escapes the owners yard and kills a person, the owner would be held responsible for second degree murder.......period. If the dog gets out and maims someone, they would be charged with ADW and financially responsible to the injured with bankruptcy as NO relief. If someone's going to own a loose cannon, they have to be prepared to pay the price when it goes off and injures someone.

while the conservative in me says "compulsory insurance.... HELL NO" I do understand that all the owner of the trash breed has to do is declare bankruptcy and then if the parents of the kid doesn't have insurance.... they are screwed.

So I would be in favor of insurance for any dog over xxx weight....

well, although I have been attacked by a human (caught in bed with his g/f... ;) ) I Have also been attacked by a dog when I was 5 y.o.

Ironically, with the lax leash laws we had back in 1980, my Irish setter, who was in the yard with me, saved my butt.... BIG TIME.

Me, my neighbor and brother were playing in my neighbor's front yard when Spike, their bulldog that was chained in the back yard, (no fence in the yard) got off his chain. I heard the two others yell "SPIKKKKEEEE, RUNNNNNNN!!!!!" I turned around and he was already lunging at me in mid-air. Next thing I remember, was getting hit from behind (by my dog) and they commenced to fighting with me in the middle. I got scratched up, my shoe ended up flying off of me, and I rolled to safety as Brutus kept fighting off Spike.

parents came outside and got the dogs. The neighbors had Spike put down

no, it needs to be intact and ran thru a slicer so it can be examined under a microscope. chunks won't do....feel free to blast away tho if it's on you. getting the rabies shots is better than losing an arm.

We had a dog that was very aggressive and would nip at people. We tried to train him to stop this behavior but it did not work. We had to put him down not only to protect ourselves but also to protect a child from getting bit by him. I cried more when we put him down than I did when my parents passed away.

unless your parents just beat you, or something... I find it very strange that people value an animal's life, or mourn their loss, more than they do over PEOPLE. I've heard the saying "I've known more good dogs than good people" statement, but never have I heard "I cried more for my overly aggressive dog than I did for the 2 people that raised me, provided for me and made me into the person I am today....

Then you clearly don't know too many people. They basically suck. Dogs have traits most people should have, but don't. So yeah, given the choice of a dog or a person I'm predisposed toward choosing the dog.

...yeah yeah... we all know... people bad, dogs good.

I love having dogs too.... i have a GREAT dog right now.... but to think I'd mourn Mocha's death more than my parent's death is absurd.... and Mocha doesn't even get aggressive like your dead dog did..

Just strange how people value a replaceable dog's life over human....

Humans are replaceable in the same way dogs are. The ones you like are not. I do not consider my current dog replaceable. My brother? Easily so.

While it makes sense you would mourn your parents more than your dog, keep in mind some people have really crappy parents and would mourn the dog far more. My wife, for example, won't give two thoughts when her parents die. She would freak out if something happened to the dog. And I would mourn my dog far more than I would mourn your parents! Random dog versus random person? I'll choose the dog. FAR better odds the dog isn't a totally worthless dick.

that's why I prefaced my statement to your quote.... "unless they beat you or something...."

I have no problem mouring the loss of my dog over, someone who I don't know, or was personally wronged by.... the way you stated it.... it read like you mourned a bad dog that was super agressive and a danger to your child, more than you mourned your parents death.

You didn't qualify if your parents were abusers, or alcoholics, or just overall POS's.... you just said "I mourn bad dog more than parents".... which I found odd. Not even a great dog over parents....but rather, a dangerous dog....

yep... wrong person... I see that now.

well, seems we are in agreement to a sort though.

There are times I will mourn my dog over a person.... a stranger, a person who wronged me.... absolutely.... beyond that.... I find it strange

I think we only differ in that I will feel worse for a random dog than a random person. Because in general dogs are better "people". It's as simple as that. Specific situations change that, obviously.

definately.... I feel no sorrow for a random dog. I give random humans dying at least benefit of the doubt. (depending on the situation)

of course, a dog getting shot by a burglar, who then dies when he impales himself on a fence trying to get away..... I feel worse for the dog.... but so long as the human didn't die while actively being a dooshbag.... I go with humans.
