I have to agree on that one. The US has been nothing but a big bully since before WWI

Texas, no question. Only place in the US that is still fully American.

The states bordering Texas would probably join with Texas, especially OK. We also have several military bases, Texans serve in the military at a higher rate than any others meaning there are a lot of trained soldiers. Texas in general own and shoot guns and could easily use the skills in any sort of fight. We also have oil, lots of meat on the hoof and the Gulf for trade and sea food. As I said there are a lot of reasons Texas would come out on top in any conflict and having lived around the US and visted many States I would say none of them could do as well on their own.

The District of Columbia, although it's not technically a state, would win because President Obama lives there and the rest of the states would do whatever he tells them to do -- just like he now does.

No way! Hawaii has a HUGE structural advantage. Isolated out in the Pacific with a sizable nuclear Navy, several Marine Corps bases, large Army base and an active Air Force base. No one touches Hawaii without nuclear retaliation! I think next would be Alaska.

Or they could do that. I was just looking at it from an angle that they're all enemies and not really allying themselves with anyone. Of course joining together no longer becomes a 50 state issue but a modern civil war of left and right which is a whole other discussion. I wouldn't even know where to begin on that one.

California is too weak in solidarity and diluted in principal. When you have half the state cheering for Mexico and half embarrassed to cheer for the U.S--ya got a problem. No matter what the fight is about....you got to have a strong people at the center of it..

Any flatland state is at a disadvantage. So...Oklahoma will fall even with its superior people. :)

Mountainous states with self-sufficient homogenous people will do well.

then it would be the state with the biggest military presence and that would either be Texas or Virginia but Virginia is mostly training and specialized post. Texas has the most combat ready post so I would say Texas

I would agree that most military personnel would align with their current duty station as that is where their families are living. You don't have to attack another state, you just need to maintain your independence. And Hawaii has the rest of the world to trade with.

Why am I not surprised that my point went right over your head.

If all 50 states went to war- we would all lose. All of us.

Lighten up, SFJ... its not a real scenario. Try thinking outside that partisan box for a change. ;)

Britain would win. As the 51st state, we'd offer Hawaii independence, then nuke the rest.

Hmmm how was pointing out that we would all lose 'partisan' but claiming that Texas would win 'not partisan'?

It isn't a real scenario, but I think pointing out the reality- that in this scenario, we would all lose, serves a more useful purpose than arguing about whether Texas or California has bigger testes.

Whatever you say. Nobody else has taken it seriously... but there's always one stick in the mud.

Pffft. One ICBM air burst fired from Nebraska over Oahu and half the island chain would be uninhabitable for several decades.

It would be a state with a major naval base IMO. Maybe Virginia, maybe California. Not likely Florida.

Alaska, it has nukes and it has ballistic missile defense which I don't believe other states have fully implemented yet. Furthermore who the hell is going to actually go all the way up there and invade Alaska? Cold as (*)(*)(*)(*).....

After that Virginia because it has Langley, Norfolk and a (*)(*)(*)(*)load of other government and military enclaves.

If we aren't including nuclear weapons then I would say Texas purely because of its size and population and everyone owns at least on M60.

Alaska would crumble without all the Federal Welfare they get, the Russians would be crossing the straight in a week claiming they are really Russia since they once owned it.
Texas also has nukes, you forget we have several Air Force bases and the largest Army post in the country.

Yeah but you don't have the AB shield system. It doesn't matter how many troops or anything you have if you don't have the ability to send nukes and block incoming ones. Alaska is the only state I am aware of that has nukes and can also block incoming nukes with their AB systems. As I said without nukes then Texas would have an edge albeit Viriginia would cause some serious damage to your infrastructure since they have Norfolk andy be extension have air craft carriers and the destroyers and all the cruise missile that go with those. Virginia and California also have nuclear submarines which would anhiliate all of Texas.

You must have missed the fact that Texas does have Airforce and Naval Airbases and we do have Nukes. Not to mention the fact that many Fighter Aircraft and Choppers along with other military equipment are built here, we can sustain a war that few others could.
