BOSTON (AP) — Police say they've taken a man into custody in connection with two unattended backpacks found at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Police spokesman Dave Estrada says the backpacks were discovered Tuesday evening, a year after two bombs in backpacks exploded at the end of the marathon and killed three people.

unbelievable. whoever did this will be charged with terrorism, whether or not the bags had bombs.

    Oh boohoo.

It's so silly and hypocritical how devastated Americans get when a bomb goes off. Or a shooting occurs. Or whatever.

The US murders hundreds of innocent civilians in countries across the world with some guy controlling a stealth drone from a warehouse in Nevada.

They don't get arrested for mass murder. One of the guys last year who killed women and children just to kill a "suspected" terrorist got a fricking medal.

You arm syrian rebels who are suicide squad jihadists. You arm the mexican cartels. Probably the colombian cartels.

You are responsible for so much mass murder and chaos. And yet omg. The world must stop when something bad happens to you. I don't believe in karma. And if karma was real your country would reap it every single day like those other countries feel. If karma was real you would be in their misery.

And you may think its not americans fault its our government. But at the same time youll blame the germans for not rising up and getting rid of the Nazis.

The fact is you just dont give a (*)(*)(*)(*). No (*)(*)(*)(*)s are given by americans. You dont care what is committed on your behalf as long as you can eat your garbage food and watch your garbage reality tv and shoot your drugs.

    Shame on you all

That is actually a frequent and effective arguement in the Tea Party/Ron Paul crowd for getting people involved. The time for sitting idle is over, if you are not actively against the warmongering and tyranical "progressives" then you are part of the problem.

And it doesn't break along Republican-Democrat lines. The Republican establishment is the lapdog of the progs. The US is deeply divided between the govt and its crony's and pawns, and the people.

And I wonder how you come to that conclusion? How long has it been since you were at a Tea Party meeting? :)

Maybe you don't remember that in 2008 obama ran as the anti-Bush, obama was the anti-war, pro-diplomacy candidate who was going to end the interventions and be Mr. "hope and change". He fooled a lot of people. obama turned out to be Bush on steroids and not only continued but expanded all the programs he campaigned against, and acts more as a dictator than an elected leader responsible to the people. People are waking up to the reality, more and more every year. We have only had 4 years, which is not very long to redirect a massive powerful bureaucracy with an entrenched constuentcy.

Blame the Jihadists who shelter themselves amongst the civilian population and use women and children as human shields in overt violation of the laws and customs of war which do not outlaw the targeting of enemies who happen to be using human shields. Furthermore; those who are targeted are not just suspects they must be thoroughly vetted and approval must be granted from the highest echelons of the chain of command and drone strikes with guided missiles are far more accurate than artillery shelling which is the Pakistani's tactic of choice in the borderlands.

Yeah, it's only a sad, terrible tragedy when some Americans get blown up.

But recently America makes sanctions on the suspects.

To a certain extent I agree with you, but be careful not to get a nose bleed from that high horse you are sitting, and also hope like hell that no poster bothers looking into Canadian history to discover that -- gasp! -- your nation has also not been so Pollyanna pure and perfect, and that there are plenty of times when your own citizens looked the other way while your government has done less than noble things in the name of 'getting important things done,' or because 'at least it's more noble in essence than what the other party would do if they regained control.'

So it's a pot-kettle-sooty issue, with the differences being one of scale and -- in general -- return on investment in atrocities. Not savory, no. Not really noble or good. Full of hypocrisy -- oh you bet!. But done entirely in a uniquely one of a kind pattern for all western nations? Not bloody likely.

Metaphorically speaking Canada has never starred in a major block buster movie as a people, risking everything they are on the box office results. It has always instead played a SAFE supporting cast role while either the United States or (in an earlier era) the British government shouldered the major responsibilities and risked EVERYTHING for (officially anyway) the greater good.

So you as a Canadian want to whine about how well the United States has done living up to its exalted ideals? Then urge your nation to finally put on its big fella pants and RISK IT ALL on the world stage as THE leader rather than as a background supporting character playing it safe all the forking damn time. You and the increasingly sanctimonious among your people become the one nation that the entire forking western hemisphere leans on most to 'fix things', and then see how pristine your hands remain over the course of passing decades. But then again as has been noted . . . your nation seems content to remain waaaaaaaaaay in the backfield in a supporting cast role. So . . . it . . . goes.

    ======================

PS: I also think -- starting with G.W. Bush and going right on through the Obama presidency to today -- that as an inspirational and moral and ethical Shinning Point of Light in the Darkness that the United States has been rather a low-wattage dim bulb. Now it would be easy to say something along the lines of, "Well of course because leftwingers have no use for ethics or morality, considering those to be outdated standards in a 'hip' and 'with it' mind set," but as previously noted, our nation did not (in my opinion anyway) exactly cover itself with glory during the G.W. Bush years in regards to a genuinely exalted standard of conduct OR intentions.

But not only are these our fork-ups but they are therefore our self-generated problems to identify, acknowledge, and then to do our best to fix -- which mostly we refuse to do. But -- again -- if Canadians want to point fingers and lecture us from atop a high horse then first they'd better KNOW that their own background is pure and perfect and, second, they are invited to FINALLY put their OWN bodies and treasure on the line, and take the lead in world affairs . . . and then take the resulting bad with the -- very occasionally -- good that comes along as a result.

So . . . those Canadians, who are such critics of the United States of America, are you finally ready to become the world's leading nation and risk EVERYTHING?

I've read these responses - all of which seem attempts to draw attention away from the main story being told.

There were - according to news reports, two backpacks : one -apparently abandoned-that was taken to a safe spot and deliberately detonated; and another-worn by a man acting "strangely" -who was approached by cops.

They looked in his backpack and found a rice cooker of some sort that was evidently rigged up to look like a bomb.

Man and cooker taken into custody. As I recall, he was facing "disorderly"-level charges.

There was nothing in the story about the high moral fiber-or lack of it-among our Canadian neighbors.:icon_jawdrop:

Sorry (but not exceptionally so) to interrupt your "dialogue" or whatever it was.

Well, how about keeping security on the civil life? All americans would concern it. I'm also curious for the certain economic activity.

What are you suggesting ? Should we go back to being careless- and just assume nobody will try to harm us ?

Granted-the chances of a Canadian invasion are slight-to-non-existent ,but all the world is not Canadian.

Due to I'm not American, I don't deeply concern American domestic security policy. On the my generally opinion, people want keeping social security when working better.
