interests in Halliburton when he became VP. Has anybody bothered to see that he didn't get all or a large part of it back when he left office? I haven't heard word one from the media.
Clearly a conflict of interest for the VP to have an ongoing interest in a company such as Halliburton. Why is it relevant what he has done since the end of his term?
He might have bought stock like every one else can. When he left office, its price was probably a lot lower than in 2001.
Having his 'compensation' deferred until after his term means that he didn't divest himself during his term.
OR, he had the bonus accrued during his term deposited by Halliburton into a Swiss account and then laundered by Credit Suisse. Would you really put it past Cheney?
Imagine if Hubert Humphrey had bought Bell Helicopter and Dow Chemical stock in 1962...."divested" when he ran with LBJ in 1964....supported escalation in Vietnam....and got it all back when he left office in 1969, after the Hueys and napalm had enriched those companies? Wonder what the Right would be saying about HHH's legacy today???
I'm not saying Cheney did anything like that, only that nobody has bothered to follow up. And I mention it because I wouldn't put it past Cheney or Halliburton to do something like that. Who would?
If it increased in value and then he bought the stock again, he would have lost a lot of money. I'm pretty sure stock is publicly owned. Is it really this hard to be unable to blame Bush for everything?
No, it's really pretty easy. But I wasn't blaming Bush (whose motto was "do anything you want, just don't tell me about it"), I was blaming Cheney. Easily the most corrupted individual in the history of the republic.
