yet another reason why teens and internet don't mix... her crying at the end of the video "why would anyone do this" really, you don't know why a male wants a pic of a teenage girl?

    at least people got arrested.

I always hated the kid's show iCarly for this reason. not that the show was inappropriate, or anything. But rather, because you have two teen girls have an online show and now every little girl that watched now thinks there's nothing wrong with that, or that the inet is a safe place where perverts won't try to sextort them.

not that I condone, but had the iCarly been real-life.... they would have had pedophiles from all over the world tuning in to try and get them to do inappropriate things

Good reasons to talk about internet security- including taping over that camera on the laptop.

I think parents are naive to safety, too.

and kids are just set free on FB and twitter.

The OP is missing the point. There were also some cases of adults having their bank accounts emptied because the malware allowed the creeps to get all the password/safety features to access the accounts online. The real moral of the story is be very careful what you click on. I guess teens are more likely to be gullible, but that's about the only tie-in with teen behavior.

Parents have a wide range of options when it comes to kids and security- and this applies not only to the internet, but in all aspects of life.

On the one hand is being absolutely and completely protective- don't let your kids climb trees because they might fall out, don't let your kids go over to friends houses because they might be molested, don't let your kids use a computer because they might get exposed to bad stuff......to no limits or guidance whatsoever.

I think it is incumbent upon parents to find what works for their families- there is no 'right' solution that is right for all families.

agreed, it's only making news because an 18 yo Miss teen usa was victimized. She got a harsh wakeup call about reality and probably didn't think it was possible for something like that to happen.
