Unfortunately I haven't been to London yet although I'd love to. I don't particularly enjoy the sight of women that are dressed like Batman either (yes we have them, too), but forcing them to wear veils and prohibiting them from doing so is equally respectless. I'm not implying you'd want to do such a thing, of course.
Woman are not obliged to dress with the burkha etc. They are obliged to be modest though. Sometimes when my hair is a mess and I can't be bothered with make-up and I can't find anything to wear I wouldn't mind wearing one of those things too. Just kidding.
