Richard Black is a terrorist-loving scumbag. He should be captured and caged in Gitmo. Assad wishes to nuke Israel, our best friend in the world.

A smart move. Bashful looks like he is going to win his civil war so making friendly overtures could place the senator in a useful position for the future, and using the Christian angle helps with his base and gives him a reasonable-looking excuse for doing so.

Why Israel is our "best friend"? Israel is using us as a puppet country to fight wars for their cause. It costs billions to our taxpayers and the world hostage. It would be better to our country to stick with democratic principles regardless of ideology, frozen outdated doctrines and so-called "geopolitics".

Israel had no problem with Assad. No one did other than our good friends Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey. The darling ones. :wall:

Are you saying that Americans do not care about the Christians in the Middle East? Well you have another guess coming. If it wasn't for the news Americans were getting from Christian publications, Americans wouldn't have been so adamantly against Obama bombing Syria. This past sunday there was special prayers said by the Pope and the Patriarch of Constantinople at the tomb of Christ in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Israel. The Pope's message was for the sufferings and persecutions of the Christians in the Middle East. These two religious leaders represent one and a half billion people in the world today.

Virginia Senator, not a US Senator.

They have very little power and influence.

I looked up Senator Richard Black and was amazed at his courage, and the way he opposed liberals in their prize gems like abortion, internet pornography, homosexual rights, etc. My gosh he even wanted to bring manners and civility back into the class rooms. Bravo Senator Black! :applause:

I like this Senator Black fellow :)

The Baathists are a lot more tolerant than the guys on the other side of that conflict.

There are two things that make me doubt the credibility of this letter. One, is that the writer denies it. The other, is that there is no evidence the letter is not forged.

That aside, I don't really mind him supporting the Assad "regime". I don't believe in violence over politics. Its foolish and stupid. I think that some major reforms would be implemented by the rebels, but in actuality, not much will change. That also said, the parts about Al-Qaeda being our arch-nemisis is idiotic.

The 20,000 freedom fighters of the Al Qaeda movement are no threat whatsoever. They're busy killing each other over stupid things like Kurd independence and removing Yemeni militias. America is the least of their problems at the moment. Al Qaeda = Scapegoat

The main problem about Syria, for us - "Westerns" -, is that ... in any direction we intervene we make something wrong, damaging this or that interest.

Even Russia [and we have to admit that Putin has played very well his cards], despite their military presence [they've got a pivotal naval base along Syrian coast] are keeping a quite low profile, not to be too involved in that mess.

    * Are we going to attack Assad?:machinegun:
A part that we could wonder "why?", doing that we would help extremists with all the potential dangers for moderates and Christians under an eventual extremist regime at Damascus.

    * Are we going to attack the extremists?:machinegun:
We will help Assad and the Russian interests ...

    * Are we going to attack both?
Ok, let's make a crusade and let's consider it done!:salute:

Israel is our best friend, since they always have been.

Israel and American foreign policy are aligned.

I am a proud American and Israeli passport holder and will die for both countries.

Assad is protecting the Christians, no matter what the media has everyone to believe. The rebels, not Assad, have destroyed ancient churches. I admire Senator Black on his bravery on speaking up for the Christians that are terrorized, killed and forced to leave their homes because of the rebels; specifically on the timing as Barack wants to put troops on the ground to get rid of Assad. You notice how he always wants to get rid of the rulers already in place. It didn't work in Egypt and Libya has backfired on him. But because of the media, well look at him, he's gonna to try it again! The definition of insanity.

Great pictures, thanks for these.Uh..yeah - they look very united. Lebanon looks just fine, no matter what the proven liar Obama said today. We'll never see those photos in our media, as both the dems and repubs alike are for war on any terms. Is the country really going to believe this liar again?

No, I'm saying that realpolitik trumps saving threatened Christians overseas every day of the week. When is the last time the USA took concrete steps to save endangered Christians (from non-Christians)? The Christian aspect is a bonus or plus, but I very much doubt it's the main motivator.

Those illiterate Syrians were most probably forced and ordered into voting. If they love the regime so much, why don't they go back to the towns that the Butcher's forces took back. We know why...
