And it wouldn't even happen because the more Rush is hated, the more his audience grows. Even when he made that one mistake and lost advertisers, he quickly rebounded and replaced those advertisers with new ones. When the advertisers that left begged to be allowed to sponsor his program again, he told them no.

Because ranting and raving is what Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly and the rest have always been about. They pioneered hyper partisan outrage, and they and their audience feed collectively off of the fearmongering, misogyny, bigotry, and ignorance that they all promote. If you don't see them being angrier than anyone else, that is because of one of two reasons. Either you have lived in the right wing bubble where this sort of speech is normal and encouraged, or you've noted (correctly) that the rest of us have lowered ourselves to the bait.
What the fringe left fail to understand is limbaugh represents the opinions of his listeners and they number in the millions. I don't know if conservatives still hold the majority because libs offer so much free stuff from the government to lazy people and their number is growing. But so are Americans who think lib business as usual is not getting the expected results.

I never doubted that. It's not about the "fringe" left either. Most people find the sort of antics Limbaugh engages in to be tasteless at best. Limbaugh has a very loyal audience. It's the same audience that watches Fox News. It's very loyal, uncritical, and stable. It's also the very same audience he had twenty years ago, and it was twenty years younger then. I have little doubt that Limbaugh will be on the air until he's no longer physically able to do so. It's the only thing he knows how to do. He was a flop on TV. He has never engaged in a real debate in the last twenty years, and he isn't a writer. Limbaugh's ratings have plummeted in many major markets. Clear Channel is facing a nearly $5 billion dollar note coming due at the same time Limbaugh's $400million contract comes up in 2016. If Clear Channel survives, they'll keep him. Of course, the venture capitalists who are holding the paper on Clear Channel and have watched it bleed their money for years now, may decide that they're better off selling off the assets in a dying medium while they can still get something for their money. If that happens, Premiere Networks will have a lot of work to do patching together stations to carry Limbaugh, since the big syndication deal will be gone. Of course, Clear Channel could survive, and they'll keep Limbaugh. Either way, his paycheck will only be a fraction of what they're paying him now.
I'm a lib and not the word police, but it seems disengenous to claim that if one finds a word to describe them as offensive that blowing off their concern because one views the word as trivial. I don't really expect any difference on this issue when so many still call black folk Nig*ers; or still use terms like wetback, ****, *****, or (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*). Ignorance will never be bred out. How would most lefties know they don't like Limbaugh if they don't listen to him? What most libs know about Limbaugh is what the professional Limbaugh haters tell them he is. So while the hate is uninformed it certainly is real. Limbaugh presents the conservative argument better than anyone in the repub party or academia so maybe the lib hate for rush is not so misplaced after all.

The encouraging message of self reliance will fall on deaf ears for those that think government should be their mama but there are minorities that call into Rush to thank him for his message.
I don't much care, nor would I be offended by what you call me. What is evident here is the double standard. A lib can say pretty much anything they want and get a pass. They are the chosen ones.
