Apparently everyone advocating for a war between America and Russia actually believes this, haha.

??? If Putin is that crazy we can hang it up right now.

I would rather be dead though than live in a world where someone crazy enough to do it could frighten everyone else into submission.

If we ever did have a nuclear exchange, I'd want to go out on the first round. Saves money on building a bunker too!

Exactly...I can only imagine that the people who advocate the US 'preemptively' nuking Russia have a death wish. Very similar to Islamists like ISIS in that respect these pro-western Zealots are.

It all depends on the scale.

If ALL nuclear weapons are launched, then not ONLY the human race, but pretty much, all life on this planet is doomed.

According to this article there are 17,300 nuclear weapons in the world.

One or two though can be survived.

It won't be limited to one or two.

Well if you are nice to me and you can make it to Roswell in time, I might let you in my abandoned missile silo.

Where's the best place to be during a nuclear attack?

Someplace where you can say...."What was that?" :)

If you don't live next to a strategically useful military base (command posts, nuclear sites, Air Force bases, Air National Guard fields, Navy nuclear storage sites and carrier/sub bases), strategically important industrial site (Silicon Valley, nuclear technology sites including power plants, hydroelectric dams, tank and ammunition plants, NASA and associated space technology sites) or important civilian C3I facilities (Washington DC, Mount Weather, Raven Rock, NSA, CIA, and NRO facilities, other continuity of government sites), then you would most likely survive.

I've read that it would only take 6 of our largest nukes to completely destroy every square inch of land on Earth. I believe it.

Utter bull(*)(*)(*)(*). Even the largest nuke ever detonated didn't destroy more then a 50 mile radius. And that nuke has 25 times more power than the largest nuke currently in our arsenal.

Hmm..., I more concerned with the political stability in Pakistan. They are not friends of America. Then there's Iran.

Neither of which have the range to threaten America with nukes.

The number of screwballs in this world is incomprehensible. A lot of 'em actually believed that 'better dead than red' (*)(*)(*)(*). And, even on our side, there are many who actually believe they would like to be martyrs. AND, they think we should all want to be martyrs, too, and if we don't, they think we would be better off dead anyway.

    Would or could?

Some will if it ever happens obviously not all.

Who exactly is advocating for a war?

    That was my first thought.

Russia? I don't recall anyone suggesting we nuke Russia.

The ME, on the other hand, would be a good place to start.

There have been plenty of people suggesting war with Russia over Ukraine. War between nuclear powers will eventually lead to nuclear weapons being used.

America is not going to war with Russia. Hussein Obama gutted the US armed forces.

Russia may go to war against Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, and Poland.

BTW, it would take 12 to 16 modern nukes to completely obliterate Moscow. Even nukes have an "effective blast radius." Most big cites would require more than eight or ten nukes.

Given the urbanization of the US and Russia and the proximity of cities in each country to nuclear targets, I'd say "most" is an inaccurate term.

Yea, thats my general confusion at the thread.

Just because we oppose Russian interference in eastern europe and rattle the saber a little doesn't mean we are for all out nuclear war.

All it takes is for the nation of Pakistan to really go Taliban, or to IS, just as Syria and Iraq have fallen. Pakistan has nukes and IRBM and is developing ICBM's

    See:
    Intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBM)Ghauri-III Shaheen-III *

    Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)
Taimur 7,000 km, a proposed ICBM[1] which is believed to be under development,[2]

Cruise missilesBabur (Hatf VII) - ground-launched cruise missile (submarine-launched version under development)

Then there's Iran who independently is developing IRBM's and ICBM's along with the help of North Korea. Notwithstanding their continued creation of Nuclear bombs. Would IS, the Taliban or Iran start a nuclear war? I wouldn't put it past them. It's my belief that they would be more likely than Russia to launch missiles toward Israel and America.
