All we hear from Obama is, "No strategy."

Why are we stuck with a leader who can't lead? Obama can't wave his magic golf club to make his weak appearance go away. He invites the world to fill the void of leadership by his lack of the same.

We are now in WWIII and so it is important that President Obama gets a third term: it is improper to change presidency during a time of war.

Just curious, what would a "strong" leader do in regards to this?

First, you show strength, not indecision. You don't talk about easing off on your position of strength when you have the upper hand. You don't announce what you will not do.

What exactly has Obama announced he will do in regards to Ukraine/Russia that is any different from what a wrong leader will do?

BTW I love the "you show strength" meaningless bull(*)(*)(*)(*). It's exactly what I expected: lots of vague (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing, no specifics.

 The "no strategy" comment was made specifically about an air campaign against ISIS in Syria.

So, what? You want Obama to wrestle bears bare-chested like Putin to prove how manly he is? Or maybe you want Obama to challenge Putin to a good old fashioned, "who can shoot the farthest" p***ing contest? How old are you again? 12? This is not how adults deal with foreign policy.

For at least the last 20 years or so, a "show of strength" translates as lobbing cruise missiles at the ebil empire du jour. So, yeah, let's try randomly tossing smart bombs at Russia. That's a real good idea.

People thinking like that is how pointless wars get started.

Putin is a chest thumping bully. Chest thumping back at him is just playing his game. You don't scream at a bully. You don't taunt them or insult them. You stand up right in front of them and say calmly, "I'm not afraid of you, and if you throw a punch, I'm punching right back."

Putin doesn't want a war with Nato. He doesn't want real serious sanctions from the US or Europe. He is doing a very simple cost benefit analysis. He is playing to your Russian counterparts - ginning up his base - by pushing as far as he can until the costs get too high. What Obama is trying to do is convince the Europeans to go along with making the costs much higher for Putin. Which is not easy, since serious sanctions would hurt Europe nearly as much as Russia, and the Europeans are doing their own cost benefit analysis, as is the US.

And do you now the one thing that makes Obama look weak and emboldens Putin the most? Back stabbing the President in foreign affairs over domestic politics. Putin knows very well that no democracy can maintain a serious push in international affairs without the solid backing of the public.

    MOD Edit - Rule 3

Did anyone really think Russia could afford to have NATO at its door step? Are the political elite in our country really this (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid?

    Remember two years ago?

What a weak president. Do you think Putin thought he was dealing with a pushover after this? I think so. This is a prime example of what a President shouldn't do. You look down your nose at me for my previous comment, do you look down your nose at Obama for the exchange on the open mic? I sure do.

Figures how you ended your rant with, "There's a n***** in the White House!" If we were playing Old Maid I'd tell you to go fish. But we aren't playing games. This is the world stage. Obama shouldn't be such a soft touch; he should stand for something.

Uh, I dunno..oh wait, that's 'bama's response. A strong leader would have a history of being a strong leader. Putin would probably never do what he's doing if there had been 6 years of strong American leadership. Putin is arrogant because he has no respect for our leadership on the world stage.

Umm.. Hate to break it to you. He is just as white is he is black. Unless all you do is judge him on skin color.....

I introduce to you.... Obama's mother.

Now what "racism" has anything to do with Obama's blunders in Foreign policy is beyond me but hey i guess its fun to throw down the race card.

Not being willing to take costly action is not the same as not caring.

What Russia is doing is undermining the very foundations of the international order that's kept the peace since 1945. That's why we all should care.

LOL You're talking about reality. The concept of race has no connection to reality at all. Black and white are purely social constructs and the standards for the distinction is entirely arbitrary. It really doesn't matter if someone is looking down at the President for having dark skin, for being "black" (by whatever definition of the word that person uses), for being a "mongrel," for being Irish, or whatever other whacky reason. Hate is hate. Bigotry is bigotry. I don't care about the rationalization - the bottom line is always the same. "They're one of them."

In any case, a large portion of the folks descended from slaves in the US have European ancestry. Which is an unsurprising result of treating women as property. The mixed ancestry didn't make any difference to the slave owners, it didn't make any difference to the Confederates, it didn't make any difference to the Klan, it didn't make any difference to the segregationists, and it doesn't make any difference to racists today.

Interesting spin but you would not have typed "If Obama was white" now would you have if you actually believed what you just typed.

Should i go back and count how many times you had to remind a poster that Obama was black? ;)

Remind me again, didn't FDR retire for health reasons? Affixation due to heart failure if I remember right. It's a pretty serious condition. Seriously, our Constitution does not say that during a time of war, we do not have elections. There is no asterisk in the 22nd amendment that allows him to remain in office, in any event. Not even if little green men from Mars attack. Personally, I'm not for term limits. I think that term limits are like zero tolerance policies, the make the decision for us. A President should be allowed to serve as many terms as he or she can get elected to. It's called the will of the people.

Race has only been introduced by you in this thread. You are the one harping on it. You are the one who is trying to use race as a reason to change the subject to cover for Obama's inability to lead. You claim that I have a deck of race cards without any reason to come to this conclusion. You have nothing. So, try staying on topic and quit spewing racism.

Well said. And look at Iraq. Put yourself in the shoes of ISIS. ISIS wants control. Obama wants out of Iraq at a specified date because he has no backbone. We organize accordingly. The US leaves, we move in.

Everyone predicted this. Then, Obama acts surprised, claiming he learned about it on the news. Blames Iraqi government.

Obama's three step method of leadership:

    1. Make remarks about how he wants to run from conflict, or draw imaginary red lines, or impose meaningless sanctions.

    2. Act surprised when step one leads to an obvious conclusion, claiming he just learned about it like everyone else.

    3. Blame someone else. We're working on it. We don't have a plan. We're waiting on the Pentagon.

This is the sort of thing you hear from a desperate, weak nation that knows it has no ace up its sleeve and its only option in the game would be to flip the table over.

Its North Korean levels of pathetic.

There is no way Putin would ever use nuclear weapons. He knows that the USA would respond in kind and it would be a disaster. He is looking to expand Russia and its influence not get it destroyed by nuclear weapons.

Reminding people that he has them, as if anyone would forget, is just words that will not lead to their use.

A strong leader wouldnt be in this position, of how to try and give the impression that he is not a weak unworldly fool after leaving a trail of menstral blood in shark infested water. I know it is a sexist analogy so save it.
