    Hello folks. :clapping:

My name is Vasily and I live in Russia. I'm half Russian, half Ukrainian geographically, but all my ancestors were Russians by passport, since in Soviet Union in Ukraine people had no Ukrainian but Soviet or Russian citizenship.(I know that it sounds weird) Therefore I know Russian, Ukrainian, English and bit of Polish. I also am learning Ancient Slavic or Proto-Slavic

I came to this forum to gain an outside view on the Ukrainian conflict, and also understand what people in other coutnries think about this conflict. It is always good to gain an additional edge to complete your understanding model of a certain process or event.

I like a good debate and not the quarell, I think that any debate should follow a rule "no emotions, just facts", one who starts getting personal - looses. With this position I grew outside of many Russian or Ukrainian forums, since right now people have mirrored positions from both sides, so they say the same things but from a different perspective.

I'm quite good in spelling but horrible in punctuation in all languages :frown:

It will be a breath of fresh air to have a member from the region who is not sitting in a cubicle typing from a propaganda script.

    I wish you Welcome.

I know that Russia was founded in Kiev not Moscow. I descend from the first rulers up to Anne of Kiev.
I wrote a thread called Texas and Crimea with little response.
In 1991 during the Gulf-Exxon-Texaco War I wanted to split Iraq three ways (one third for the Palestinians, one third for a permanent UN Protectorate and one third to Russia to let Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia become free).
Naturally I was delighted when the country subdivided, not knowing most of the details.
However If I was from Ukraine and reached my current age (53) with a brutal dictator running the country I'd welcome a return to Russia. I assume Russia is much nicer now than the Soviet Union ever was and better than Ukraine was last year.
I'm worried about Putin's future plans and his secret deal with Obama, but if all he wants is to retake Ukraine and won't kill everyone there, that's fine with me.

Truth be told I'm already tired of that on Ukrainian and Russian forums.
