Topeka Welcomes First God Loves Gays Billboard To Taunt Westboro Baptists http://www.queerty.com/topeka-welco...billboard-to-taunt-westboro-baptists-20140910 -------------------------------------------------------- Well, well, well, it sure looks like turn about is fair play, huh. The billboard project has brought about thousands of dollars in support of it with no opposition to speak of and more billboards may be slated to appear in other cities in the U.S. where anti-Gay people reside.
The Homophobes CLAIM they don't hate gays....the religious ones claim God doesn't hate gays, "just homosexuality". They also CLAIM they disagree strongly with the Westboro types who claim the opposite. So....why have THEY never put up such a billboard???
Isn't it though! And it's certainly about time. We must never forget that what goes around comes around.
Oh great, begun, the Billboard wars has. Not the idiots of the Westboro Church will get into the act and start suing people who fight them. This is a completely asinine move.
Thought it was called Free Speech under the First Amendment. If one side can do it why shouldn't the other?
For several reasons. It may be entertainment at firs, but eventually one side is going to start trying to get the other side to shut the hell up by any means neccesary. And secondly these kinds of things only incite resentment and mob mentality. As with the case of the atheists billboards and the Christian reaction to those. this is NOT a good idea.
So? That's how they make their living. They have routinely gone to cities, incited crowds in attempt to cause violence against themselves, and then sued the city police for not protecting them. Its their way. Might as well have some fun with it.
Its wasted money. Westboro enjoys the attention. That's why they do what they do....get attention, shock people and sue people. The thing they hate the most...is being ignored.
Yet it is actually based on the same principle of Democrats vs. Republicans and vice-versa. There are certainly heated differences involved and we all know that well. However, it is each political party's right to advertise as they will in order to gain support for their cause. This is no different. And of course each side is certainly free to sue the other, but for good cause. That is the democratic American way. So, I cannot agree with you on your stance in this matter. The people putting up their billboards in support of Gay rights have that right and do not have to cower down or be intimidated by any group or person. To succumb to that and allow the other side to win by default would not be the American way.
I am going to have to agree with tram and CKW on this. Wbc is a scam exploiting loopholes to provoke people into fighting them
I couldn't really care for any non-violent motions against the Westboro Baptist Church, I'm generally not a violent guy, but God Almighty, it would be bliss to see a drone strike on their cult housing complex.
Here's the latest on this from CNN. Billboard targets controversial church http://us.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/vi...gets-controversial-church.ksnt.html?hpt=hp_c4 ----------------------------------------------- As for the sin of Sodom: http://www.gaychristian101.com/Sin-of-Sodom.html
because I also don't support racism.... just because I haven't taken out a sign taunting the KKK doesn't mean I'm guilty of supporting what they preach.
I don't believe for one instant, that God really hates "fa gs" .... I will however, support WBC's right to say it within the law. And if someone wants to take out a billboard against WBC...., or paint their house rainbow.... I support that too. I will not support either side resorting to violence because they don't like what the other one is saying....
Actually, you make a good analogy, Javis. Back "in the day", in the South there were racists who didn't like blacks, hated them even.....but they didn't belong to the Klan nor did they lynch blacks. But they didn't raise too much of a stink about the "occasional lynching"...especially if it kept the status quo. Same thing here. If the Westboro folks got power, they'd kill or violently oppress gays. And like the average Southern racist, you'd say "I don't agree with what they're doing...but I'm not going to say anything against it either. I don't want to kill them....but I want them in their place." More to the point, if folks like you REALLY didn't hate gays...you'd be in the forefront of going after those who openly and proudly do, to prove that you don't hate gays. It would atleast give you SOME "cover" for your claim that your objection to gay marriage was based "solely" on "tradition" or "legalities" or "the Constitution" or "Christian values". But again, you don't....not that you want gays lynched. But you wouldn't lose any sleep over it if they were.
your assumption that anyone who doesn't support gays lock and stock and goose step beside you, obviously hates them and wants them (fill in the blank) is typical of your ilk. No, I don't have to jump to the front lines for every ill in society. Because there are too many ills of society. Why should I give your issue any more time of day than say, wife beaters. I haven't bought a billboard condemning the NFL and Ray Rice, but that doesn't mean I'm ok with Ray Rice beating his wife. of course, using your logic, since you haven't jumped out to buy a billboard against Ray Rice, you obviously don't lose any sleep over the fact that a woman "got what she deserved" you must be sexist.
