Please explain how exactly YOU know that everybody over there hates us? Have you ever met them? I met a teenage boy who waited by his front door every single day for my squad to come by so he could walk with us on our long patrols. There was a man who sold ice cream out of a cart who would always wait at the corner every single day and give each of us free ice cream because in his words "Hotter here than America, yes?" Or what about the entire village who slaughtered 2 of their goats and cooked them along with a huge feast and every man woman and child hauled all this food to the top of a mountain that overlooked their village where we had air dropped in and setup machine gun nests for a few days. They made a feast (which is a big deal to them) for us to eat to say in their words "Thank you for coming, no Americans have ever come to help us here and the Taliban always harms us". When we left that kid who waited for us everyday sat outside of the field where the Chinook came to get us and cried his eyes out. "I will miss you my friends, please remember me and come back to visit one day when there is no war". And each one of us walked by and gave him a hug goodbye and a crap load of candy bars and told him to share (we know he didn't)...he loved chocolate like most kids do. Keep in mind these people came from the same village to where the Taliban literally beheads you if they even THINK you said hi to one of us. Let alone hang out and give us intel and free food. Not everybody is a terrorist and no they don't all hate us. Radical Islam is the only thing you hear about which is why you think all of them are like that. They aren't, most of them are normal people. So yes I believe I do actually understand. I believe it is you who doesn't understand.
Okay so 90% of them hate us. I thank you for your service. My son is in the Navy now. The reason I say they all hate us is because they wait for us to come over and take care of business. They take funding from people that are not on our like list. They also recruit from within. We train them and give them weapons and they turn right around and use them against us. The Saudis didn't want us there during the Iraqi confrontation. Iran would wipe us out if they thought they had a half a chance. Syrians don't want us there. We are not wanted by the majority in the middle east. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. We don't truly know how many we are fighting. They are not a uniformed army like ours are. They walk around with women and children like model citizens. You should know first hand. You were their. How easy was it to determine bad from good? How many briefings did you go through were they told you to trust no one. Again I mean no disrespect to you as i look up to all our military and anybody that has served. You sacrifice so much with so little in return. I just wish when we took care of a situation we took care of it. We don't need to come and go from a foreign country with the job not finished. Will their be innocent people's lives taken? Sure their will be. Have innocent lives been taken by the enemy already? Sure their has. What about the 2 star general a few months ago, taken by a man we trained. I don't trust any of them. Call me what you will, but I will protect my family and myself at all cost. Now maybe I'm wrong by stating that they ALL hate us. I would be willing to bet the majority of them do. Answer this, how do you weed out the good from the bad? Is their a way? I honestly don't believe so.
I agree with Rand. This is not MY fight. Not yet, anyway, since there has been no militant Islamic activity in my town. Let the ME fight this out. It is they who are in jeopardy from ISIS. They're just playing us for suckers, and why shouldn't they, as long as we act the part? I think Rand would draw a line, and hold it.

I also made some friends in Iraq. Always joking, we were. They gave me lots of free cigarettes because I spoke conversational Arabic, which they appreciated. And it was exactly as you say. They had no aspirations of world domination, just aspirations of common people who want to live and work in peace. I shudder to think what has become of some of those good people I met. The blood of the innocent be on the hands of the US government for centuries to come!!!
